This is actually incorrect, you keep your sprout status at that point if you have below a certain number of hours, even if you didn't use a skip (IIRC it's 100 hours).Also they'll be at a higher risk of information overload from the skips and their skill at the game will be affected as they've not been introduced to systems and skills systematically as they leveled. Once you get to current story, you lose your sprout status. Buying the skips will have them lose their sprout status. That sprout status tells players that this player is new and to be more forgiving of mistakes.
