    Aesthetics aside, there’s fundamentally no difference between the different colored gear types. It more so denotes what type of gear it is.
    Gray : Vendor or crafted
    Pink : Aetherial
    Green : dungeon set or crafted
    Blue : Raid, Ex trial, tomestone, or artifact
    Purple : Relic and the Eternal Bond ring

    Stat wise, gear of equal item level will have equal stat budget, the exceptions being crafted and vendor gear that is not high quality. An ilvl 400 green piece of gear will have the same stat budget as an ilvl 400 blue piece. The only other exception in some cases are relic weapons that can have a higher substat budget but main stats are the same as equal ilvl.
