I'm more expecting Lunar Bahamut to just be the "final boss" of the MSQ we deal with in a solo duty in the second half of 5.5, seeing as HW and SB both closed off in similar fashion.

Arenvald will lead one, Fordola will lead another.Unlikely. As it was just shown at the end of 5.4, those towers actually Temper people. They'd need actual Echo users to deal with them, and I have a feeling those things will be creating very powerful monsters. If anything, I expect the Eorzean Alliance (along with all other world powers) to be stuck on the defensive, destroying any monsters that pop up while we're off saving the world.

I'd think it's more likely to be Lunar Ifrit given that the Amal'jaa are involved. I doubt they'll use all the Lunar Eidolons given how many their are, but that one kinda just slots in there really nicely.
Didn't Owen mention in the document that he left behind that they had found a way to prevent tempering? It's entirely possible that Eorzea might temporarily pivot towards focusing on that over developing a full cure for it given that the threat of mass-tempering is in play and threatens their continued operations. I doubt that the towers will be dealt with by the end of 5.5, but I also don't think we'll be focusing on them for too long in 6.0.Unlikely. I think those towers have to be "global". And they make me think - in my exceptionally woolly way given I am not a lorehound - that they are taking juice from the air (aether) which causes said tempering. I am thinking this is either a secondary effect or preliminary effect. I think the towers are putting something out which hits against what's effectively an ozone layer, which then pools out whatever their energy is, creating a web or dome effect across the planet. It reaches a certain point where said energy can no longer be contained and everything explodes or something and bye bye star because no ozone is bad (here's where I should point out not only am I no a lore hound, I am also not a scientist!Unlikely. As it was just shown at the end of 5.4, those towers actually Temper people. When everyone's stuck dealing with lots of tempered people across the entire known area and bits we've not been to, if a general global explosion doesn't take everyone down with tempering fallout, the prior mass tempering effect from a global network of towers may fix the rest of it.
But really, I have no idea, no basis in lore beyond aether being air in this sense (it is in the classical sense, and I certainly refer to things being up in the aether in feeling uncertain or things are unclear), I just decided that's what I'd do with them if I wanted to cause problems. Admittedly, I'd want them constantly playing music that sends people loopy on top of everything else*, but that could be considered a bit too much.
*I'm thinking akin to Mars Attacks!

We already know from what happened with Elidibus' manipulation of the Crystal Tower that if the ambient aether is agitated sufficiently it can cause entities to manifest very easily; with the prayers and hopes of the WoLs from other stars creating the specters that were hounding us and the Scions.
I feel like the "Garlean" towers may be doing something similar and if it's to be a recreation of the Final Days, I'm expecting the lunar primals to just be phase one of the problem and it's the doom and gloom they stir up amongst the commonfolk that's going to start manifesting the Terminus beasts. I'm confused as how the tempering they induce plays into all of this though, unless Fandaniel has somehow found a way to harness the faith of the tempered as a power source for creating primals in general as opposed to it fueling just one entity in particular.

The recent Famitsu interview Yoshi did suggests 5.5 will be about us chasing Lunar Bahamut down so he’s most likely going to be dealt with then.

Diamond Weapon looks like Shinryu.Diamond Weapon looks a fair bit different from the previous fights already with the arena being split into two halves with it between them and seemingly utilizing a side-swapping mechanic with jump pads.
The fact that it's described as threatening to destroy Werlyt makes me further question just who's going to be piloting the thing, though it's obvious that the scheme of Alphonse and company backfired horribly regardless.
I'm expecting the thing to still be using Zenos as the oversoul subject, but it's going to end up drawing data from Shinryu as well.
A mash-up of his sword AoEs, Shinryu's primal mechanics, and Diamond Weapon's own gimmicks could make for an interesting battle.

Inb4 there's some Ilberd in there as well because why not.
On a more serious sort of note, I wonder if they will remix Scale and Steel or The Worm's Tail for the 2nd phase. I think most of us think of the latter when talking about Shinryu in FFXIV, but The Worm's Tail has Stormblood's motif throughout which I think should stay in Stormblood-related content... Unless you subscribe to the "Stormblood never ends" meme.

I suppose it's possible but story wise where would they get Shinryu data from? I could see them having some data on Zenos sure but Zenos only had Shinryu for a short time, and then was promptly killed, not sure how this weapon project could have gotten any data from Zenos' brief time posessing Shinryu.
