Another New Hairstyle I Can't Use

I'm going to paraphrase someone else's point I saw in a similar discussion last night, but this is how I expect things are happening right now:

Viera and Hrothgar both need major overhauls. SE is aware of this. People are angry and they know it. But anything they do right now, such as making one individual hairstyle or helm work for Viera/Hroth, would be akin to putting a bandaid on a stab wound. Likely what's happening is they're working to prepare a major overhaul to reveal for Endwalker, and allocating extra resources for short-term fixes that they would end up overwriting with major overhauls anyway would be costly both on a human labor level and on a financial one.

Maybe this is an overly optimistic viewpoint on the whole situation, but this is most likely what's going on. From an operations-and-development perspective, it's the route that makes the most sense. Are people going to be fuming in the meantime as they continue to get the shaft while other players get to wear the shiny new hair and helms? Of course they are, and rightfully so. Viera and Hroth were rolled out half-finished, and it shows. But all SE can do now is fix the mistake they made in the most efficient manner as possible. I for one would rather them do it this way, than make a bunch of patchwork fixes that are disjointed and half-hearted, anyway.

(Addendum, because I know it's going to come up: If that major overhaul includes male Viera and female Hroth, great! That would be fantastic and make many, many players happy. If it doesn't include that, I'll just be glad to see them brought up to the same standards as the other races.)

Yeah I'm not expecting it, but it always seems to come up whenever the helm/hair issue comes up so I was heading it off at the pass.

I'm more annoyed that the the outfit is one piece. Why do they do this? Now if it was $7, I could be fine with it. But to have a full price single item is not good, imo.
Plus, the outfit and hair would be better sold separately. For those like the OP who can't use it yet have to pay for it to get the outfit and for people like me who would never use that hairstyle.

I wouldn't have released them broken. I would've rather made a statement saying were working on it because we'd rather have them up to our standards then release something that has limitations. I mean at this point they shot themselves in the foot, not the players.

Idk, I get that it would be a bandaid to whatever nebulous and ever changing issue (depends who you ask and what week) they are having with the models. However, I’ve seen the conversation go from “the expansion isn’t over, be patient” to “yeah okay, but 6.0 for SURE!!!” to more recently “ok ok but in 7.0 they’ll probably do an engine overhaul and it doesn’t make sense to even touch them until then!” I hope you’re right and there will be an overhaul for these races in 6.0, independent of the eventual engine update for all. But at the same time...just give us the bandaid at this point.

It’s been *years*. If they genuinely can’t/don’t want to find a solution to the issues these races have then they should just work with what they have. Can’t make hairs compatible? Fine. Make race exclusives then. We know they can at least do that. Idk what is going on there that basic cosmetic options for these races is some sort of insurmountable burden on the dev team.

It doesn’t have to be this huge blowout mass overhaul, and it never did. But the longer they make people wait for anything at all, the more people are going to expect from them when (if?) they finally do roll an update out.

It doesn’t have to be top priority. But having it be somewhere on the list in the last 2 years would’ve been really nice. If you think that’s being unreasonable I don’t know what to tell you.

I don't think I ever said I want or expect viera and hrothgar hair to be top priority. But you have to admit it looks like that issue isn't on ANY list.

I wouldn't want hairstyles to ever be a top priority fix because frankly there's so much in the game that matters far more than hair. But this doesn't mean I'm okay with SE acting as if the issue doesn't even exist.

No announcements, no concept art, not even the tiniest hint that the issue is even getting the vaguest amount of attention. I have tried to be patient but at this point I'm reaching the last of it. If we got just a tiny snippet that something is coming, even if it's not going to be on 6.0 launch, I'll be happy. I just want some manner of confirmation that SE isn't just acting as if those two races don't exist when it comes to head options. But so far this is what it looks like they're doing, and it's frustrating.

There was no lie from the community? What are you talking about? Nobody asked for a “pre-release” of unfinished models. Idk why some people here have deluded themselves into thinking that viera players should be happy with what we got because we “forced” the dev team to release them. I wish we were that powerful. We’d have hair by now.

They've brought this up in several threads before as if SE held a community poll to ask if players were okay with "pre-releasing" the races in this state and people said yes?
