Assuming the standard route everywhere is to turn left after the room with the three skeletons, go down those stairs and past the boss room to reach the second switch in the corner, I had a tank go the other way recently and it was so much better.

Turn right as you leave the room, so you don't bump into the tonberry coming up the passage.

Continue around to the right and go down the other set of stairs.

Straight up the corridor to the rusted switch in the corner, then along to the boss room.

I haven't gone back to re-test it, but I think you could avoid ever encountering the big tonberries if you wanted. We dashed past one on the way to the boss room and let it get a few stabs in, since they're not sufficiently lethal to worry about it, but I assume they used to be and I could could never understand quite how you could hope to avoid them without a huge amount of waiting and hiding.

I always preferred to go right, when you come out of the endless rise you can pull the two tonberrys from the lower level, move to the right (ne corner of the rise) in the corner you can pull the lower corner mobs (ghost/skeleton) and the south pack of ghosts, it’s. A big pull but the lower mobs take a bit to get there. After that the path out the east is clear and you can easily get the lower Theo water wheels and go into the boss room.

Your assuming that they will. In my experience that never happens.

This is what i would usually do as well, while i was leveling my tank(s). It was easier / faster to just deal with 1 big Tonberry, rather then 2 on the bottom floor (near the boss room). But, i'm willing to try out different strategies with my Alt PLD (which i'm leveling to 80 at the moment).

Back when they were lethal, we didn't pull everything at once so it was easier to take paths that avoided them.

And it's no fun to do WP efficiently. You gotta scream and run like maniacs while the homicidal tonberries slash at you. That's the best type of run. It's just boring if you don't get the chance to get scared.
