I am guessing the OP is not referring to the use of discord as a tool to communicate which is totally fine and more about the fact that they use it to say things that would get them banned ingame such as making third party tools mandatory, linking dps meters and since it is usual for tryhards, probably speak in a manner that would get them banned if they spoke in such a way in the ingame chats.

the discords are used to efficiently organise and vet players for runs. the people you're imagining have no place in most of the Delebrum discords, and the BA discords before them; basically all of these servers have zero tolerance for that kind of behaviour.

For the most part, its not hardcore elitist raiders trying to set up these servers; its generally people who don't raid and are more casual focussed. the hardcore raiders who cared got their clear in week 1 and never came back.

the resistance to these discords is usually just either stubbornness or social anxiety; its not something you can just click into in-game and join. you have to engage with other people. its out of the comfort zone for some people.

Wasn't used for BA. I can't speak for other venues but there was never any discussion that i could see about that or any other 3rd party tools in any of the groups I participated in. The main advantage of the BA groups was the organization and the callouts and trying to coordinate lost actions as needed. Was basically a good teaching venue for those interested in the content.

I mean in that case it does sound pretty standard use of discord which you see in most games with high end group content, my assumption came from the fact that I did learn there's some form of raid assistance addon similar to WoW's dbm/bigwigs and by its mere existence I have no doubt some would start demanding it to make the raid easier (because god fobid you have to face the original intended challenge instead of trying to make it easier through any means possible) which is what has lead to WoW's highly elitist and addon heavy culture since now even the devs have to design encounters with the myriad of assistance addons in mind.

Tbh i despise discord, it killed all kinds of forums and most ingame communication - i just see on some new members, they log on, may say "hi" but their attention is on discord, they talk only on voice and if you dont join it your left out - and no i dont wanna have actual talking all eve after having to talk and make calls all day plus having my family around me.

I see its nice for organization but many abuse it for avoiding the ingame rules as well - just see all the rmt PF entry with "info on discord only"...


And honestly it was ok for BA but in the ends its annoying being bound to organize with that... at least theres no instance hopping this time, but still...

What happened when I used these discord servers is the the party leader for each party called out the mechanics. Nobody was asked to download anything.

Maybe there are exceptions but that was my experience.

Tbf, they've been saying Eureka/BA would be dead since 5.0, and there remains some level of activity/interest still.

Honestly, if/when this content gets to that dying point, I'd say Bozja in general will suffer before anyone even makes it to DR, and it'll suffer far more than Eureka. CEs seem far more punishing without a sufficiently full group.

Working as intended I'd say, SE cannot and should not be ignorant of discords use anymore for difficult grouped content. It is just to fast and efficient to not use or be aware of at this point.

Fellowships can hold lots of people but have the WORST options for communication, Linkshells have the best ability to communicate but can't have a lot of people, FC's come close to a nice middle ground, but people mostly gravitate towards their friends FC's, or just stay put because they have a house tied to that FC and they don't want to lose it, and there's no way to put guides at peoples finger tips within the game. There are NO workable in game alternatives so discord becomes the only option.

SE seems to expect people to throw up a PF and hope for the best, but it doesn't work that way, especially not on the NA side of things. It's like opening loot boxes and banking on a legendary, you're just going to be disappointed. People who actually want to finish the content and don't happen to have 47 friends to do it with understand that discord is popular, fast and efficient, so it's what's gonna be used till the games death unless SE can provide solid alternatives, which they likely won't do.

if you don't like discord then don't join it. make your own Party Finder for it. others preferring the organization and call outs from discord aren't at fault for your party filling slower.
