Predictions for job(s) in the next expansion?

I agree. When Yoshi-p wore the Children of Bodom shirt it was about a month after the guitarist Alexi Laiho had passed away. This could easily be Yoshi-p representing as a fan of the band because it is not an expansion event. The idea that the shirts are linked are highly circumstantial and are probably not linked at all.

That could be right, but personally (you don't have to agree with it) I think Yoshi-P is well aware that anything he wears will be analyzed during the announcements of new expansion content, and yes, technically that last shirt was during a live letter, which we haven't had before, but it was the same day, and he surely knows that if he changes shirts to something so specific, that will be seen as a hint. I don't get the feeling that he wants to throw people off their predictions when it comes to this, since all shirts so far except Samurai has been very obvious, and even with Samurai, he specifically hinted at which of the spider man movies to look for clues, so IMO it wasn't that hard to predict.

In either case, reaper fits both shirts anyways.

The biggest tell IMO though, is still what I mentioned with Ran'jit having completely new weapon animations for his Scythe. Nobody here really thinks they would add animations for that for no reason right? Like, we're talking about a game that doesn't add any new weapon animations at all pretty much except for new jobs. Hammers, for example, are just the same animations as Axes for WAR. The scythe meant nothing story-wise with Ran'jit, so they could've easily just have had him use a sword or something and not have to spend resources on that. Makes no sense to do if they aren't planning to use it for something else. And who really uses a scythe one-handed? Not something you see very often, but Sice from Type-0 does it.

They have tons of npc humanoid enemies with unique animations, so I don't think that plays much of a role.

What enemies are you referring to? I don't know any character with weapon animations that we can't use as a player. I'm probably wording it wrong, I don't mean animation for an ability or something, but the way the character holds the weapon and swings the weapon. There's ofc enemies of all kinds that have unique abilities and weapons, but I'm talking about friendly or enemy NPCs that adhere to the same system we as players do.

Ever since someone caught a peak at the Magus Sisters hiding in the back of one of the EW concept arts, I am beginning to wonder if the shirt could have hinted toward them, as the middle sister trademark weapon is the scythe. I wouldn't give this much consideration if the lead up to the last expansion didn't break convention and had shirts hint at a new race rather than jobs, so they might be broader than we're used to.



As I said before, my personal preference is that the new job either doesn't use a scythe or that its much more than a scythe (perhaps a bifurcate or transforming weapon that can fold out into a scythe) because having both Maiming gear using jobs use polearms seems like a waste.

I dunno man, they make unique animations for all trial/raid bosses wether they're humanoid or not.

He has used shirts to hint at new jobs at every single Fanfest so far, so...I'd say it's not circumstantial. And yes, this was an expansion event. We got a teaser trailer and a bunch of other information. This was basically Fanfest part 1. Heck, in the showcase description it explicitly said that it would be about the "future of FF XIV". He also switched shirts not just once, but twice. Each of them displayed a deathly looking figure. In the past he hasn't really done this on a whim. Could he be messing with us? Maybe. But I wouldn't bet money on it.

Cindy’s signature attack is also Arabic in origin, which also goes along with the shirt.

The Geomantic Sai Taisui have unique bell weapon and casting animations on a humanoid frame in Swallow’s Compass. Just one example off the top of my head.
