Where is the ambition?

I find that this is perfect time to hoard all of them and slowy release they back after the event is over for massive profit. But what do i know...
Sadly in SE eyes everything before the latest patch is considered old and ready for nerfs and content isn't anymore like it was meant to be.

It's kind of a stretch to blame this on "SE is quick to nerf item acquisition", considering we're talking about an item that got added almost 7 years ago (March 2014). And in this case, it's just an event that'll be around for about 5 weeks.
I'm a little surprised it took them this long to make the mariner cloth glams easily accessible considering that virtually every other formerly treasure map exclusive glam has been made available via quick ventures, lockboxes, deep dungeon troves, or scrip vendors.
Not saying it's necessarily a good thing, though.

Quick ventures drops of the Moonfire glamour gear last year already depressed the Mariner Cotton Cloth market far more than this event will. I'm still sitting on a nice big stack from all the cheap gear I desynthesized last year and I would imagine other crafters did the same.Mariner Cotton Cloth is one the most coveted drops from ARR Treasure maps, and soon it will be available for a mere 5 tomes for months
Treasure maps are currently one of the most precious and limited resources in the game, and I feel heavily diminishing the relative value of the rewards isn't a good decision to make for the game
I understand it is by far too late to reverse the decision, but I had to at least voice my concerns and say it sets a bad precedent
I hope to never see rare Treasure items like Mist Silk or Calf Leather available in future iterations of this event
I don't see a 4 week event as a problem considering most players are going to be farming tomestones to get the mounts and other items they want, not to get a crafting material for a glamour item they likely already have if they wanted it since they could buy it cheap last year.
I don't see a problem if they do the same with Mist Silk and Calf Leather in the future. There will be always be other rare materials for glamours available through maps. Prices will start rebounding a month after the event ends and the supply dries up (assuming items don't end up fairly common drops from quick ventures in the meantime).

I run quick ventures all the time and have seen 1 mariner cloth...maybe two..in a year.

They already drop from PotD.
It's still hard to get them, and to get the cloth for crafting.
I didn't say the quick ventures were dropping the cloth. I said they were dropping the Moonfire glamour gear and I was getting the cloth by desynthing those.
A lot of the profit from quick ventures doesn't come from selling the item direct. It comes from desynthing the items for materials that are more valuable than what the items themselves are selling for thanks to quick venture causing market oversaturation. Wouldn't you happily buy up Sandals selling for 2-5k gil that had a 25% chance of yielding a cloth that normally sells for 60k-100k gil? I certainly did.
The Mariner Cotton Cloth market was already going to be depressed this summer thanks to those like me who took advantage of last year's opportunity. Adding the cloth to the event is going to hurt us more than it would hurt the map runners who have plenty of other valuable materials to get from maps.
