It's possible that the headgear and hairstyle situation will never be resolved. Elder Scrolls Online has two beast races and due to the different shapes of their heads, they can't use some of the same helmets and hairstyles as the more human-like playable races.

I'd expect a similar issue to be the case for FFXIV's development team. There's some stuff they can probably make work, but they'd likely have an easier time just making the occasional new hairstyle exclusive for Viera and Hrothgar.

I don't think the situation means losing out on the missing genders being added, though. Or rather, it shouldn't in an ideal world.

I already have a love/hate relationship with headgear already. Some it looks really cool but then if I'm wearing it, nobody can see my character's face!

Unlikely, the modding community already fixed the problems pretty quickly, so I don't think there's much of an excuse for it not being resolved. When the modding community has this stuff down to a science, it's time to take notes and apply what you've learned from them.

same same. i enable it just to hide it a couple of minutes later again.
no headgear would be no problem for me (maybe an exception to glasses and similar face equipment. af gear also - since i think there is too much identity on them to miss on the headgear)

It isn't something that needs to be resolved. There was never any intention for either race to have more hair or to be able to wear hats. The company was up front about this from the beginning. It is very minor in the grand scheme of things. It will never be a priority.

headgear yes. but didn’t they say there would be coming more hairstyles for both and more unique headshapes for hrothgar if i remember right? (a more wolfish looking head or something? i have to look it up again)

The first quote is from before Shadowbringers even released so they certainly were upfront about their intentions of adding more, contrary to what you said.

The fact they haven't done it for whatever reason doesn't change what they said to players.

Yencat posted a QnA that addressed this. YoshiP has said that both Viera and Hrothgar will be getting more hairstyles, and they will be race specific.
The problem is, there was not any mention of a Release Date.
So its happening, YoshiP said it himself. We just dont know when...its possible to be in 6.0 with Endwalker.
