Yep, that's what I was referencing with Children of Bodom. And the reaper is sort of like a mascot for them. Still, kudos for his taste in music.

Fandaniel's motive is to exterminate all life including his own. "Reaper" could just be alluded to our relationship with Fandaniel and really, we are just "Following the Reaper" and the actual hint is somewhere else. OR it could be that Zenos is "The Reaper" because of the speculation he had a scythe head sticking out of his throne and that it's a hint to that aesthetic. His t-shirt isn't just used to hint new jobs, like with Bugs Bunny and Viera. Although he put huge emphasis on his t-shirt, I wouldn't put it past them for that to be intentionally misleading as they get a kick out of trolling.

If we're talking lore, in another thread on this, I was thinking you might use reaper concepts to discuss the place of ourselves as part of the group.

You've Hades right? What if our other name, like Hades, was something like Thanatos. Would tighten the relationship between Hades and ourselves. Nyx technically would be cooler (I thought the primordial gods were neat in school at least, and Hades the recent video game made Nyx cool), while she has some reaper like powers (she's a primordial god and all... mother of Thanatos, and the Fates) she is not normally something you'd associate with reaper. Some relationship to the moon however (due to both her sister and darkness and all that). Nyx has some interesting balance as well (parent to many emotions, from blame and retribution to friendship), but she's not a reaper so.. (although the conversation was really born from the shirt over just "shirt must be referencing this"). Due to Azem having to do with the Sun one might suggest Apollo I suppose but I had wanted to place something closer to Hades (however Apollo's nature fits quite well, "averter of evil" - I just wanted to stick it to one of the soul related gods).

Keeping in mind the whole psychopomp thing (reapers, and those relating to that subject) being spirit guides. Which would line up potentially neatly with our special power (each member having something they were pretty good at). Ours seems to be the ability to summon those from afar (might associate that to the soul, ability to call upon souls fits into a psychopomp like notch).


Reaper may be a red herring though, I just hope the truth isn't something massively silly then lol. Although, not saying you're saying this but to preemptively counter "it can't be the obvious" - we did have a scarlet witch for red mage and a bunny for viera (as you said for the later).

Also just for super goof tangent, because we can, Chronus is sometimes seen with a sickle / scythe. So.. time mage.. lol. Naturally we've AST, but they did recently extract more time concepts from the job and make it more star focused (still have their limit break though). I feel unlikely, buuut if we were playing the game of red herrings and very stretched references.

^This. Also, in most cases his 'hints' have never been correctly guessed by players at all, save for the Scarlet Witch t-shirt he wore back in 2016ish which was so obviously hinting RDM only a giant sign flashing "Red Mage Confirmed!" above him would have been more so.

But yeah, players have almost never guessed correctly the new Jobs he's hinted at in the past - MCH being an example: he wore a James Bond t-shirt and everyone said "Agent confirmed!"... then were all shocked when it was actually Machinist (the reference being quite obvious if you thought about it, the whole "gun and gadgets" thing, but it was not clear if took it at face value), so I think it's going to be the same here - a whole new class that actually has little to no bearing at all at what was shown and which no one guessed (I mean, look at Sage - it's a Job from past FF games, yet the 'psychic blades' for it's weapon is completely unique, so I think the new Job will be just the same).

Either way, it's best not to overthink this.
