I would rather them take the data they would use for that and just add more wards. Actually, delete all the apartments and add more wards, that'd be great.Perhaps the apartments could be made into a more viable personal housing option by adding a courtyard accessible through the lobby, outside, and/or directly from individual apartment. It’d have pre-built amenities like garden (for viewing only), sunroom, fountain/pool, barbecue area, sitting area, etc., similar to common areas in real world luxury apartments. (Perhaps even striking dummies in place of gym).
While it would not be customizable like a house yard, at least the residents would have a common area where they can hang out and/or entertain their guests for those who like to role-play/socialize in game.
Also it would be nice if a 2-beds garden patch can be allowed in the apartments for residents to plant non-flowering seeds and/or cross-breed. It’d give residents a way to get a taste of gardening, but it’s much more limited, so it won’t take away the allure of actual house garden patch.
Apartments don't require the server space that wards do since they're only loaded when a player enters instead of being always loaded like the wards. I doubt SE would be able to add more than a ward per district per world if they removed apartments - and then you'd have the thousands of players who have been evicted from their apartments fighting over the couple of hundred houses added.
It's a terrible idea.
Talking with friends, we were discussing housing issues and also the uselessness XIV has made Guilds.
A few ideas came up, though it's feasibility may be a stretch.
FC Housing should have it's own instance per FC, though smaller than what we currently have for a ward, and given the same treatment The Firmament was, in that, it's up to the FC to develop their Ward. They would be responsible for opening up additional plots for their members, requiring FC Rank & credits to purchase permits, crafters to develop the ward, and gatherers to gather stuff idk. Not only would a housing crisis that has gone on embarrassingly long, but it'd give the FC's some additional content. If the servers could sustain this, Idk. I'm not a dev, but other MMOs figured it out.
Just another idea for SE to ignore.![]()
Yoshi addressed this a while back in a live letter. They initially wanted indoor intercrossing to be a feature but because Intercrossing is tied into the weather and environment systems that only exist in outdoor areas it wasn't possible without a massive overhaul. He implied that it's far down on the priority list and not to expect it.
Why do guilds even have to be useful or practical? They're mostly just a social function. The best thing they could do for FCs would be to make them joinable across the entire datacenter.Talking with friends, we were discussing housing issues and also the uselessness XIV has made Guilds.

I agree that if SE is pushing for a mega server, that FCs should allow members throughout the DC. However, Guilds serve many functions, socializing being a keystone. In XIV, you have LS, CWLS, Fellowships (if that even counts), and FCs for socializing. So really FCs are pointless. Your question why guilds need to be useful, that's actually a really good question that I do not have a response for. I can say that in XIV, guilds are not. BUT this is about housing and ideas for how to address that. The FC was a side piece to the housing issues.
EVEN STILL! I think that'd be fun content and give birth to functions/content our game currently half asses in.
Server-wide personal house teleport. We're restricted to one personal understandably enough, but have no convenient way of reaching it on alt characters, and we can't even add our own characters as tenants because it requires friend list.

Oh my god no. That would bankrupt me in no time flat. Maybe YOU can make hundreds of millions of gil easily, but I had to work my butt off just to save enough to buy the place. That kind of upkeep is ludicrous.
I'd also love to see the rest of the Lyhe Mheg, especially the benches, tables and chairs. We only got the macarons![]()
