Whales are predominately freemium and mobile based. Thanks though. The game is neither free, nor a mobile game. Unless you’ve never used Fantasia, or spent a single penny on the mog station the entire argument is invalid.

They're obviously going to be more common in games that allow players to spend tons of money on them, which is often the case for the two types of games that you've listed (freemium/mobile). That doesn't mean that games like FFXIV doesn't have any whales.
As I've stated in my previous post, a whale is someone who spents more than the average player would. This doesn't mean that simply spending money on the mogstation makes one a whale.
The whales in XIV are the type of players that'll jump on any new thing that gets added to the mogstation, or the SE store (usually things that come with in-game items).

I have nothing against whales though. If people want to drop money on something they like, all power to them. I'd personally only drop that kind of money on a statue if I like the looks of it.

@OP: If money is tight, shouldn't you have other things to worry about than complaining about a single emote in a video game?

Yeah it can be frustrating when you can't afford something you want to buy but that's just life, dude. I see people with emotes, mounts, and outfits I won't be able to get anytime soon if ever and it doesn't mentally or emotionally destroy me because they aren't anything besides novelties.

Seeing people having something you don't and being driven to tears over it is a sign of a different problem entirely and perhaps you're putting too much of your personal worth into the game.

They should add the $220 emote to the FFXIV store for $220; not that I support it but if people want to give the company the money why would the company refuse money?

As long as people are willing to spend a buttload of money on a few pixels that the creator spend 1 second of work on, this will persist. However, it is their money, their choice. Live and let live. They are themselves voting with their wallet after all, and so can you.

It is a familiar problem for me though. As a gamer I have made similar observations and do desire to actually have and own all the content available. But in the end, who am I to change other people's minds who do not see the way I do? Those things exist because people give reason for them to exist, how depraved you may find them. All one can do is find the patience and wisdom to meander through it.

I stopped raiding after E4S. I don’t think raiders should be allowed to have any mounts after the fact because I don’t have the time to allocate to it.Am I doing this right? I mean time and money go hand in hand.
