We will see, but I think it would benefit them to keep adding long grind relic steps going forth and into Endwalker earlier than patch than the .3 patch.

Given the amount of new sprouts I would say Blizzard just utterly ignoring player feedback in SystemLands with confirmation at Blizzcon. It also does not help that the next content is like 6+ months away and FF14 offers their first expansion out of 3 for free lol

Are we that many, as a new player here I cant really know how many sprouts were running around before but I was definitely surprised by the number, definitely not something you see in WoW's starting areas these days.

Honestly so far im really disappointed they havent incorpterated Shadowbringers fates into the relic steps.Maybe we will see this in 5.5.
It seems like a complete waste not to ecnourage the use of them considering the shared fate currency system and rewards.It would also help newer players get to level 80 on alt jobs instead of just spamming roulettes.Furthermore i think they need to have more interaction with the shared fate system in general to get a better feedback of what rewards people cared about and what to scrap in the future shared fates for 6.0

Heh, I was right. Good relic leads to high activity. You can't deny it SE.
As much as I loved Stormblood it was hemorrhaging players between patches because of how calamitous Eureka was.
All we can hope is that they have learned, hopefully this time we get the relic step in 5.2 so that the game stays active after the initial launch.

This is one of the most active times in this expansion's existence besides the launch.
My question is, will SE attribute this to:

1. The Free Login campaign?
2. Patch 5.45 relic step
3. Endwalker
4. Blizzard burying world of warcraft further

Or a combination of all those factors? I believe it's mostly due to patch 5.45; it has been literally 4+ years since FFXIV has had a good relic step like this current one. There finally is activity in the game. Relic activity fosters activity in other places such as Fates, alliance raids, dungeons, and it sparks activity outside of relic specific duties. I coin it "activity creates activity." This is a phenomenon some of us remember in Heavensward whenever relic steps were added. This is my take.

What about you? What do you think has delivered a new mini golden age for the game?

Global pandemic plays a big role with more people stuck at home and out of work. Equals more time to play and if your on low income or no income due to pandemic. The sub is generally cheaper option than buying games. Hell it's free all the way to to the end of heavensward. Enough to keep people occupied a bit during lockdowns
