I will once Square decides to actually make fellowship finder function decently at that.

It's a completely forgotten function that is like that because of all the dumb ways it limits stuff. It works if you're already interested in the thing, it doesn't if it's trying to get more people to come, which is what those entirely exist for as those who're already interested probably already know when it happens.

I'm going to make the incredibly accurate assumption that you've never actually looked at the fellowship system and are just saying this because you only have a vague understanding that it exists.

I don't RP, nor do I care about RP, but this whole situation is way beyond the line. There's content sections for about any type of content in PF, let people use the "other" section in whatever way they want tbh. The people looking specifically for raids or ex trials won't even bother to skim different sections in PF. Absolutely ridiculous.

I think a lot of people here aren't RPers, just people who think the "rpers are all deviants" thing is silly considering these players are the ones playing the game all the time. I don't really rp myself but if someone enjoys the game in a way that isn't hurting anyone, let them.

Role-players are pretty resourceful and have learned to adapt across multiple MMO's when it comes to organising and finding role-play. Not being able to post about role-play, specifically, in the party finder is not going to cause role-play to be snuffed out entirely - far from it. For starters, simply typing 'FFXIV RP' into a search engine brings up sites devoted to networking and finding people to interact with.

I guess it depends on how they're used? I've personally found them to be very useful and a great way for connecting with other players.

We got into this situation because of spam. Specifically, we got into this situation because nightclubs were getting catty with each other, putting up 3+ PFs to bump down rival venues. Uninvolved players were annoyed enough to start reporting these PFs, and the rest is history. Most solutions offered so far don't address that a change in mindset needs to happen from the community itself: stop spamming. It's well-known that the best advertisement method is word of mouth, that players blacklist venues and individuals spamming ads in Shout channels or PF. So why do it? It's counterintuitive to the goal of increased attendance.

Do RMT/clear sellers need to be dealt with as well? Absolutely. But I'm increasingly convinced adding a Roleplay tab in PF will just kick the can further down the road. Be courteous, be mindful of your fellow players, and curb your enthusiasm: don't Shout ads more than every half hour per zone, don't have more than two PFs up for your venue. And remember that minors, whether we like it or not, play this game, so language should be kept PG-13.

I'm still not sure why, since they are almost always limited to "Other" in the Duty finder and are usually at the bottom of recruiting why it matters in the first place. If the same venue has 3+ ads up and shouts... Well, chance are I' not going to ever go to that venue since they care about quantity more than quality. But it doesn't bother me. Nor does seeing ERP venues advertised; and I don't do or particularly like ERP. Someone mildly annoyed at having to see some stupid ad and reports it seems... Petty as heck.

what about the console players?

I'm literally in one where the entire point was spreading your PF venue's around.

It's last posting was may 2nd 2020. It's painfully dead, despite ton of members who I know are in fact still active.

Make fellowship not feel so limited and out of the way, meant to be forgotten, and we'll consider it. Far as it is, it's literally just a worse LINKSHELL, let alone worse PF.
