I'm sure you have them since you're so happy to make the claim - and say it with such generic hand-wavey statements that it's almost like you're implying anybody who ERPs might be an actual sex offender, which is definitely not a tired and stupid trope that most actual roleplayers know isn't true.

It doesn't matter whether or not it's in a public space or not. You cannot send sexually explicit content to minors in many countries, and it's a global game. ERP shouldn't be taking place because there's no way of telling just how old the other person is, or what their countries' laws of consent are. Anybody who ERPs could potentially become a sex offender, whether they mean to or not.

Squeenix is probably doing a crack-down right now on RP in general, because they are worried about the reputation of their brand and how the public perceives FF14. They probably don't want to be seen as the company that made a game that everybody ERPs in. Are they going too far? Maybe, but it honestly looks like they're doing damage control, with how it came out of nowhere.

nah, people don't hang out in the QS on Mateus that much. Limsa's more their hotspot.

People legit do not just randomly start ERP. Most that do are literally just trollposting, to get attention. People are not stupid with that.

100% agree, however, RP venues that offer ERP services do openly advertise this fact in the Party Finder. It wasn't always this way, but has evolved over time. Now, you are bombarded with multiple listings for ERP clubs while just trying to find a little tavern or cafe to chill with your RP group. And since it's the Party Finder posts that are getting addressed by the GM, it might be due to this change in how RP venues advertise, and not the very rare open-world ERP.

i was mostly replying to the idea that if you go to the right places on mateus or balmung you'll see people just being nasty in public. s'not the case.

i'm not opposed to being like 'hey dont openly advertise you're an 18+ venue or brothel' but at the same time, i see why rpers would like to know that upfront without having to go to a venue's carrd or the venue itself to find that out. if i'm not wanting to be in that scene i'd rather not go to a venue's carrd (i keep referencing these and idek if people elsewhere use those as much as crystal does but i know some primal rp venues have carrds) and be like "ah dang" so if they drop a little (18+) in the PF, it helps me know, eh, not the spot for me at the moment.

also both sfw and nsfw ones were getting the axe so eeeeeeh kind of a moot point, if it was only 18+/ERP venues that got a smack on the hand i don't think people would be as up in arms.

This; it's an issue of consent. If you want to do that kind of thing, feel free to do it in the privacy of your own venues with consenting people of appropriate age. Even feel free to advertise on outside platforms. Balmung calendar, for example. Personally, I have no issue with that. When you put up an ERP venue in Party Finder however, everyone is subjected to seeing it whether its wanted or not. It's forced exposure to 18+ content in front of potential minors or others who may not want to see that kind of content in their face.

It's not a good look; one that gets far worse when I load up PF to see what interesting events are happening, only to be blasted with 7-9 of the same exact listings for the same 'venue' clogging the entire tab. It's always the same junk for every listing, just gift-wrapped with a different bow. "Drinks, dancers, and a randomly unknown DJ! Visit the discord!" It's not even creative anymore; we need a breath of fresh air.

Let me preface this by saying I don't roleplay or look for clears.

I'm a pretty negative Nancy when it comes to this kinda stuff but I think both Roleplay adverts and Clear selling should be taken out of Party Finder and have it be used for just...party finding. Free Companies exist, Fellowships exist, Linkshells exist, the Yell and Shout Chat functions exists, Recruitment finder on lodestone is a thing, advertising outside the game itself on related websites/forums is allowed and even encouraged. I feel like even with this change the roleplay community would be largely unaffected, reason being that people who're interested will end up finding their way regardless using any of the aforementioned functions. Plus as an FC leader I speak from experience when I say PF is a crummy way to advertise anyway. When I used to advert my FC in PF years ago I'd get maybe like 1 tell every couple of weeks? There are better ways, Innovate, Adapt, Overcome.

Tl;dr I'd be completely fine with less irrelevant things to me in the PF either way.

The reason you got one tell a week about your FC advert is that people don't go into PF looking for FCs. People go into PF for things to do with other people. RP is a thing to do with other people and it fits the OTHER category just fine.

Anyone who has run an event will tell you PF is the best way to get engagement.

I'm not a big fan of the GMs doing this. I'm not a roleplayer by any means. But they need to start prioritizing the RMT going on in PF over the RP venues.
They need to at least add a right click (and equivalent to our PS4/PS5 players) where we can report the ad for RMT just like we can to people in limsa that are shouting. Looking at you gil seller bots.

I agree some the RP venue ads can be quite vulgar. Those probably deserve a warning but if they're simply doing [18+] <Insert venue name here and ward+plot> I have nothing wrong with that. but some these venue houses people make are quite creative and i enjoy looking at them when I'm curious or bored. RPers aren't hurt anyone. But I'm pretty sure selling clears for irl money and gil is kinda worse imho. I reported a few them today on primal. Ive been seeing the same names in PF selling stuff for 2 years and they haven't gotten banned yet....so why are people being punished for social aspects. Minus the vulgar ads.
