Aspiring to have fun does not mean people can do whatever they wish. The development team can and often will intervene in situations where players step out of line.
Please have a sense of logic and common sense.
It is true no one will have a clear definition on PF usage, but in an age of "Wake Up" movement on the rise, you need to start use your brain before you decide to put word "Brothel" in PF.
You are just make yourself vulnerable to be report and if reporter can present the case logically to GM, you are banned.
I wouldn't risk my account just for ERP if i am you.
Do as what GM told you, use fellowship and no one will report you from there.
Stop wasting time arguing for a case you cant win.
People were likely reporting it for awhile, and there are some nights the darn list is so long and people mislabeling duty content in PF as ERP and that's a no-no. Saying the word brothel also doesn't help.Advertising Player Venues and Events in the PF is not against Terms of Service, nor is it the GMs M.O to make an interpretation based on their own "gut feeling". The GM overstepped the mark and acted in a manner that is both unprofessional and actually dangerous to the company.
As a Former GM myself for another studio, I can tell you straight, the GMs must act in accordance with the guidelines they are set specifically and follow the company mandated interpretation to the letter, they must conduct themselves at all times with utmost professionalism. They are not allowed to make calls like this off their own backs without authorization from a more Senior GM, whom will first ask Legal if it's alright because it would mean a written change in terms of service that would need to be then re-accepted by the entire playerbase.
One GM did this, there was no indication a senior GM had been even approached, that's a break in the command structure for a start which is overstepping the mark, why? The GM would refer the case to a Senior GM to handle because they're not allowed to handle it themselves or the Senior GM would also have to be in attendance.
In no part of the terms of service does it state that PF is not to be used to advertised events and/or venues.
Read it, it's not there.
The GM went Renegade and is very likely going to be finding themselves on a long unpaid vacation for their unprofessional conduct.
But also a long while back YoshiP made that statement about some things people were doing in the ERP arena that could make rating boards want to label the game beyond the Teen rating, and that they should stop. It's likely a collection of all these things instead of a rogue decision.
Why are they targeting RPers? Like what about the people who really clog up the PF's by selling content clears? which is also against TOS I believe?
Oh, please. People have been throwing insults around this entire thread, including calling me a sock puppet among other things. Stop trying to virtue signal and address the actual argument.
I don't think people should be engaging in ERP with strangers in a space that minors can easily access. It's explicitly against the Terms of Service of the game, and I feel that it should be enforced as such.
The reason I don't support ERP in this game, as I have brought up previously on this board, is because I was groomed when I was a minor on a similar (albeit older) game. It was a very negative experience in my life, and I don't think people should be subjected to the same. I've had to leave FCs and end friendships in this game over people knowingly covering and protecting RPers who intentionally engage in "relationships" with minors. Many adult RP circles on FF have known minors that are just allowed to coexist in a space they absolutely should not be in. None of this is a rare occurrence on this game; Very few RP venues genuinely take any of this seriously.
Normal RP is fine, I used to be super into it and I'm glad people can enjoy it. I hope they add a section for it to the PF, but I'd like to see continued strictness towards venues that explicitly violate the terms of service.
No, it is just someone lack of common sense put word Brothel during the rise of "Wake Up" movement.
It maybe alright before but current trend is you need to be sensitive when you post something in public channel.
Not to mention his attempt to make a case when this GM already shake it off nicely for him just make making the word "stupidity" orbit around him.
I remember this and it was especially aimed at social networks like Twitter where people tried to use mental juggling to blame the ERP + 18 discord channel(Lalaporn) that had recently been exposed instead of all the FFXIV porn with Futas. But also a long while back YoshiP made that statement about some things people were doing in the ERP arena that could make rating boards want to label the game beyond the Teen rating, and that they should stop. It's likely a collection of all these things instead of a rogue decision.
That peaked my interest, never been a GM, but I'm a mod on a very large forum (thousands of online members and any one time), so I'm wondering if something like this is a regular occurence (in your experience, even if it wasn't on FFXIV).
On the forum I mod, we have pretty clear guidelines and we rarely moderate solo unless it's pretty obvious (like bot spamming and advertising), we'll discuss the issue on the report and agree on a sanction, if any. Sanction reviews are handled by senior mods and admin, and on top of the admins are the owners, banning or warning someone like this with a very broad interpretation of the rules would get a mod in trouble, but not too much since it's a forum and not a paid service, but still.
Any insight on how that would've fly when you were a GM ?
Okay but have you ever even been in an RP venue? All we DO is party. I want to party? I use party finder. Duh."Party finder".
It's like joining a dating app for the purpose of business opportunities.
I have no issue with peeps using PF other section for the purpose of RP and venues, but I find the arguments proposed kind of funny when the very purpose of party finder is stated in the name.
