I would absolutely try the new game, but I would judge it based on it's own merits and not just as "the new 14." If it's a good game then I'd definitely stick with it at least until 14 starts to notably wind down.

Honestly, though, even if the new game wasn't great I'd probably still slip away from 14 regardless. I enjoy it now but give it a couple more years (or more) and the diminishing support/content it would inherently get with a new FF MMO on the block, I doubt there'd be enough to keep me sticking around.

Lotta the time they give you racial options in character creation they usually have a short & cute one.
Especially since they've expressed it's important to provide a good variety of races, I think we can always expect to see a short & cute one.
And while Tactics Advanced let you play as Moogles, for an MMO they're gonna have more human-like options for gear modeling reasons.

I'll wait until I know anything about this "new game" to make that decision.

they will probably do what Pso2 is doing instead of a whole new FF like 17 or 18

It would depend on how, I can see a few options one which has already been sort of mentioned. First thing to note though is Yoshida doesn't like removing people's progress so if it's like the first 'cata'/ARR then we wouldn't lose progress. However, if it's the second method which is like alternate dimension / different timeline then we 'might'.

To be honest I feel like, especially if the gameplay evolves a lot, that we go the second route then . . . Or SE looks into some way to encourage / enable players to optionally do so but even making it an option wouldn't really be the same anymore. There is something very special having to approach something anew again. Like if we just ARR "ver 3" then people would have loads of unlocks done already, and so if they change a lot of those systems you wouldn't get to really appreciate that.

But anyway, if it's a simple ARR then yes I bet we would and if it's something more complex then most likely you'd keep it in that other 'world'. Like if at the end of Endwalker we split dimensions or if maybe it's like WotG and there is a past and present (or future).

I would play both. No need to choose.

From what I understand ff16 is a single player game with some online elements, not an actual mmorpg like ff14.

It would be really weird for a company to create a 2nd mmorpg that would compete with their previous one since that could also split their playerbase and hurt both games.

As much as I enjoy single player games like bioware ones they always come to an end, while mmorpgs are infinite, have so many small details to explore, so many different things to do and always some form of grind for some nice rewards which is why there's always something to keep you occupied so no, even when I take breaks I always return back to an mmorpg that can keep my focus for a long time.

If another Final Fantasy MMO comes out (Final Fantasy XVII likely since it that would be the same amount of main numbered games that was between XI and XIV) Final Fantasy XIV would still be active likely because people still play Final Fantasy XI

It's interesting because it does show there's a space in the market for a good MMO. FF14 players like the game but are tired of the endless technical limitations and WoW players have been hopping between MMO's for years in hopes of something better but never finding it. I think some companies still feel MMO's are past their time and there are more profitable options, but really there just isn't a truly good MMO out there right now (no offence to ff14, it's decent but not outstanding). A fun game with immersive story, fluid combat, an up to date engine and competent developers could easily snatch a lot of the market.

Somehow developers keep screwing it up though. Too much monetization, clunky combat, patches or expansions pushed out to fast with bugs and glitches, ignoring feedback, forgetting what fun is and focusing on grind, trying too hard to be innovative and ending up being an obscure niche that doesn't work and so on. Making a really good game isn't as easy as it seems. But it happens and every so often the classics we know and love (or love to hate) are born and there's definitely room for that in the MMO market.

FF14's a bit of a shame in that they don't screw it up as much, but the engine, coding and budget they're working with severely restricts them.
