If they're still using the same old combat/gearing system then no.

Well how i say it?, im not happy with the current state of the game to be honest, my fav job DRK gameplay gutted and the decadence on the battle content in terms of cuantity/durability and quality of jobs/roles gameplay due simplification and fight desings affecting specially tanks and healers compared to other expansions really make me have a negative opinion of Shadowbringers but i hope they do better on Endwalker, if not i just leave the game.
So if SE come and offer a new final fantasy MMO with a trinity system wich is saved from all the spaghetti code and all the theorical limitiations they seems to have with ffxiv to work on it yeah i would move and try it without any doubt and see how evolves but if Ffxiv just fix all the current problems i have with the game then it would be a hard choice and the new MMO should be really good to make me fully move to it instead of stay on 14.
I can't say if I'd play their next MMO without knowing anything about it lol.
And who even knows when it would happen. SQEX currently has FF11, DQX, and FF14 going. At least one of those would have to end first.
I wouldn't play a new Final Fantasy Online unless Yoshi P was at the helm, and he's already stated he is sticking with this one for the long haul.
The leadership transition between FFXIV 1.0 and A Realm Reborn showed us all and the world how important and impactful a really good game director can be , regardless of how shiny and new something is, especially something like a MMO which requires far more care and attention over longer periods of time.
And it would be really hard for me to let go of this long journey, so I feel like instead of making a new Final Fantasy online mmorpg and starting all over, I'd rather see them try and undertake what SEGA is currently doing with Phantasy Star Online 2, where they are creating a new game world with next-gen graphics and mechanics, but the characters from the current PSO2 transfer over and can jump between both game versions whenever they want.
Journey to all fish: 1383/1729 (348 remaining) [79%]
I'd rather see a XIV-2, with improved coding so they can actually do stuff without being limited by an almost decade-old patch job over a failed game.
I'm still hoping for a 2nd calamity come 6.1.
YoshiP even said in an interview once he'd love to have one again. That spaghetti code excuse is starting to wear thin.
everytime i see FF16 i cant help but think its like an offline test bed for next 14 engine upgrade, the similarity is just uncanny. i doubt they will ditch 14, the lore, setting, story is so big now it would be stupid for them to just throw away all those resources
I would. I’d hope it would be very different though (as all final fantasy games are) and not just an ‘upgrade’. Ie no more bikini cat girls and lalas.
Yes the tonberry and Chocobo and cactuar will be there but doesn’t mean it can’t look and feel different.
Even if it was out tomorrow I would absolutely finish this saga with Endwalker. However from there, if they added many modern features and improvements I would probably either sub both or switch to the new one. I am especially excited at the concept they start out right, which allows for a lot of features to travel through the game better. Mind blown if they could being big open world (or seamless airship system), chocobo, air ship, camp, role play (as in systems are not made just as a content but also to describe an existence in the world, like a simple example is critters in WoW), house for all, better more accurate movement (like gw2, or better even), more combat features, complete glamour log, etc.
FFXIV won't be dying anytime soon but I do often wonder "how good could it really be' if they had the time to start it out all right rather than be put through the endless sprint gauntlet they have been in.
Alternatively we might be see cataclysm / ARR part two.

If we see a cataclysm/arr 3.0 event, do you think we'll keep our levels? or will we start at 1?Even if it was out tomorrow I would absolutely finish this saga with Endwalker.
