Today marks the second week of the 8 week cycle and the first week where the huddled masses were more than prepared for what the grand companies were asking for, in advance.
Does no one else see how completely backwards this system is?
Every week from now on will be a repeat of this morning: Every single item will fill up in less than 5 seconds. It was literally 5 seconds as well, I counted. What this manages to accomplish is to ensure only a few receive a few seals per week. The rest are stuck. This goes for both people who wake up early enough to be at the counter when the clock ticks over, and those casual players who don't have time in the morning. The cause for all of this is the fact that every supply and provision being asked for has a set limit per server. A far more logical system, and really the only one that would work in the long run, would be a limit per player, set at a lower number.
I expect many vocal protesters to show up in this thread stating that the current system is perfect because survival of the fittest and yada yada. I'll admit right here and now, I fish a lot. Ever since I got my golden rod, every week I'd be able to hand in, 8, 9, 10k seals worth of fish because I hoard everything like one of those crazy people on tv. I'm not innocent of screwing over the more casual players, but I knew that eventually that well would run dry. So yes, I enjoyed the more random system because it benefited me more than anyone else just due to my hoarding. That being said, I'd still prefer a per-individual limit. That way everybody wins.
C'mon SE. This is a problem now, as shown by the amount of complaining within my linkshells and in public, and it's only going to get worse once the server merges happen. This should at least be acknowledged as a problem.
Tl;Dr the current per-server provision/supply item cap is ridiculous. A per-player item cap makes much more sense.
