If the melee job uses a scythe, it's most likely what Ran'jit used. He used a mix of ninjutsu mudras and melee combat arts. It is said he has mastered Gukumatz and he used his familiar in combat. When his dragon familiar merges with him, it's said his outfit changes where the dragon becomes part of his outfit. With the confirmation that this new melee job is going to share a similar place as Dragoon, it's a melee job with maiming gearset. This would make Ran'jit's outfit change a lot of sense - he essentially pulled something akin to Dragoon's Blood of the Dragon.
Now this is a bit of a wild speculation, but based on some ARR dialogue, Coultenet Dailebaure (scion) also studied and saw common points between ninjutsu mudras and arcane geometries. More importantly, he fled to Radz-at-Han at some point to avoid capture at Mor Dhona when escaping the Crystal Braves. Seeing as how we're going to Radz-at-Han in 6.0, there might be some relation to the new melee job and the fighting style Ran'jit used if it turns out that the new job's storyline plot revolves around the new 6.0 locations eventually. This is also built on the speculation that Radz-At-Han is where we're going to get Island Sanctuary update with raising animals and making a farm, leading into some unique combat style where farmers developed a new fighting technique with a scythe. This is because scythes were originally an agricultural tool for mowing grass or reaping crops - which falls inline with the Island Sanctuary update.
I won't lie, I actually always wanted to see Holy Dragoon as a Tank Job since 2.0 release but they will obviously have to do a lot of work to make it unique from Dragoon since it has a role as a tank and the weapon of choice will have to be similar to Dragoon but handle differently on how they attack with it. They can even go for the Lance and Shield weapon for Holy Dragoon.
We can probably expect plenty of influence from Ran'jit if the weapon is a Scythe since he maybe a good starting point for their animation development. If the melee job uses a scythe, it's most likely what Ran'jit used. I still feel there maybe a good amount of influence from the FF11 Dark Knight as well if they are keeping the Death theme for even the new Melee DPS powers. As I stated before, a part of me suspects that the possible Scythe Melee DPS job maybe their attempt to revive the FF11 Scythe Death Knight as a new Job under a new name.

Astrologian was based off a special job from Tactics (that only had 1 skill), so it could be that they'll pull the Fell Knight from Tactics as well. Scythe seems to be a pretty strong indicator, though something with a stronger lunar theme would be really nice I think.
This wouldn't so much fit for Yoshi P's second shirt, but the first could've also been a clue for Rune Fencer, since the Arabic alphabet has a very 'runic' kind of look to it. I'm not really sure if I feel confident enough in any guess to say for certain.
Next dps job is literally Gaia
Close combat Hamer mage
Personally I hope the FFT job we'll get is either Holy Knight/Templar, Rune Knight (incorrectly named "Lune Knight" in the PS1 version), or Sword Saint, which all revolve around being so good with a sword you can fire off magic slashes like Northswain's Strike or Shadowblade.
I know people think we have plenty of sword using jobs, but personally I just want one melee DPS job that wears armor and uses a sword with some fantastical flair. Paladin is very holy-focused, stances with a shield (even glamming it away makes it apparent you're holding one), and is all about defense. Samurai is one of the strongest jobs theme-wise so it doesn't afford the fantasy of being anything other than a Samurai. Red Mage is you mostly using reused Black Mage animations while holding your sword upside down until you have enough mana to do your three sword attacks.
So that's why I'm hoping for a job like TG Cid or another from FFT. I know a lot of people are predicting a scythe-user and think another sword job isn't needed, but I think having the only other Maiming gear using job also wield a polearm (in addition to DRG already having a purchasable scythe weapon model) would be a bigger disappointment
When i think sycthe i think of the Pteroslaver thing Ranjit had going on with his "pet" "Beast"
“Theirs really not much you can change with the MCH”

Where is the ambition?
Thinking about it some, I think at the end of the day Ran'jit's special transformation was essentially The First's answer to a Dragoon: a "wyrm" empowered warrior with a polearm and scale armor. Since Dragons came to Hydaelyn some time after the shattering of Zodiark and the creation of the 13 Reflections, that means they only settled on The Source and would be absent from the reflections such as The First. I remember reading somewhere the developers referred to his "dragon" pet by a different term to distinguish it from the dragons we usually see.
I think anything related to Ranjit would still be too similar to Dragoon.
In order to add a new maiming job they need to distance it from Dragoon.
If that's all we were going on, I'd go with a slow heavy-hitter, wielding Hammers or Maces. Maybe a new take on 'Rune Knight' using a hammer with a nordic theme and Rune magic.
But there's also that loose hint at a scythe which makes things a little trickier.
So what I would imagine the new job to be is something like...
Ravager
A new take on the Mystic Knight archetype, combining elemental magic with hard and fast melee attacks, combining the traits of Tactics Advanced 2's and XIII's Ravager roles, with a new weapon.
It has it's lore roots in Mhach, they weren't all Black mages after all, and we see Ferdiad wield a scythe as well. It has a slight 'dark' aesthetic to it, similar to BLM, due to sharing it's roots.
To contrast against Dragoon, it has more magical capabilities, while DRG has low MDef and HP-absorb sustain, Ravager instead has a magical defence boost as a personal sustain skill.
It's job gauge could be kind of like a reverse RDM, the more it attacks, the more elemental aether it accumulates, and imbues it into attacks to augment and boost them in a couple of different ways, utilising a couple of different elements.
