New Player Feeling Alone

I recently started my adventure and I am enjoying the game so far. I am on Diabolos and not coming across other players very often. When I have run dungeons people do not talk. This combined with a lack of a world chat channel make the game feel solo. Should I look for another server or is there a place where the social aspect is better? Any thoughts are appreciated.

You may wish to search for a mentor and ask them to invite you to the Novice Network. Its primary purpose is for new adventurers to receive guidance and answers from veteran ones, but many are happy with it also being used respectfully as the "world chat channel" you speak of. There's a player search function on the social menu that you can use to find a mentor, and any mentor can invite you.

Hang out in the major cities too. They do allot of talking in the say and shout chats. Just join in and they will welcome you. It’s easy to make friends in this game. Sometimes you have to talk first but it’s worth it. Also check the party finder in the other tab. There are people there who just want to talk. Join their party and make friends too. Good luck. There are plenty of players around, majority of which are congregated in Limsa or any of the expansions' endgame hub areas. A lot of people just do dungeons and stuff without talking, but only because it's not required, and often people just try to speed through stuff as quickly as possible. It's not exclusive to this server, you'll find it anywhere, at least on the NA data centers (Crystal, Primal, Aether).

If you're really interested in conversation in dungeons, start them yourselves. Sometimes people are afraid to initiate it, or assume no one else wants to talk either.
