And yet those roles did magically disappear, because the instance isn't guaranteed to give them to you, and you can use lost actions to play a different role.
I think the point is, this would be fine if it was fully optional side content that people only did because they enjoyed the unusual battle composition approach. But instead it's been placed as a roadblock to other content, specifically the relic weapon, that everyone is expected to run repeatedly whether they enjoy the alternate approach or not.
Personally I feel like the lost-action system is obtuse and it's not clearly set out what you should be doing with it. If there was a simpler version where you pick your preferred role and automatically get assigned those stat adjustments and extra skills, it might feel a bit less confusing and easier to engage with.
Certainly for me, if it was as simple as "pick your role" then there'd be fun and novelty in going in as a particular job but then playing it as something else. DPS swordsman? Healing dancer? Tank the whole thing as as mage? If you could freely muck around it could be great, but needing to acquire and set up the right mix of lost actions makes it cumbersome.

This isn't tank-and-spank content, you need to use creative and optimal lost actions to even clear DR savage. The normal mode is setting up people to understand the fights and what is best to use, second people who don't even use an essence practically make the run longer because of no extra damage buffs. If they have tightened normal mode where it's required to use a few, that'd be even better. The savage version has required lost essence use because of DPS checks, and 1:1 battles. Versus normal mode people can pick up bodies for days on queen and clear.I think the point is, this would be fine if it was fully optional side content that people only did because they enjoyed the unusual battle composition approach. If you want "pick your role", that content is elsewhere.
