You mean the largest FFXIV echo chamber in the entire history of FFXIV? :P That aside, this is a glorified chat thread with like minded people, that is littered with the same arguments, senseless bumping, and loads of fanart. Not sure what was accomplished, but if you want to be proud of that cool.

Echo chamber ? By this logic all request threads are echo chambers. The only reason it seems this way is because the amount of attention it garnered and how the team handled transparency in relation to male viera. Anyone can comment their ambivalence/dislike of male viera. No one's stopping that. As far as I can see, people on both sides are willing to converse on all opinions of male viera and its subtopics. The fact that we're conversing with you is proof of that. The beliefs and attitudes of those who support male viera has also become 1000x more open and understanding than that initial emotional reaction of this thread. I have even seen other in support of this thread supervise the more extreme views/trolls who are in support and/or against.

Developers who appreciate and want to make their community happy listen and observe feedback from everywhere, including this forum no matter how much we joke that they don't come even here. The 2B pants issue got addressed quite quickly after I saw the thread and complaints here. In comparison, the number of likes on this thread have not gone unnoticed. Also remember when the thread was deleted ? We'll never know the true reason, but that they restored it showed acknowledgement or at the very least that someone was listening. This is now more or less simply a thread where people can converse and communicate their ideas or talk about topics surrounding male viera. This includes art, naturally.

Issues begin when people stop talking, in my opinion. At least, that's what happened with SE stopped talking about male viera to those who questioned it during and after the release of Shadowbringers.

Seriously, this person and a couple other individuals are just here to spoil the mood in the thread, just ignore them. I don't even know what kind of satisfaction they get out of it, but they are here every other day saying how meaningless everything is.

Yeah I mean its their right to talk about their opinion its just really funny how seemingly only those that are for Viera are wrong or an echo chamber. But deep down its great that they post because they will keep the thread active too.

With the timeframes they expect for the game lasting, it's also hard to believe it won't benefit from another race being added eventually, and there's apparently some graphics upgrades coming for the PS5. We'll see what those are.

If the game does last 10 years, which I'll admit sounds quite unrealistic considering how this game is admittedly suffering from so many issues due to 1.0, and it would likely be more profitable and maybe even easy to make a new MMO instead of remaking this one from the ground up, then I believe we would certainly see more races and probably a character creator overhaul. That being said, I'll be quite surprised if we dont have a new SE MMO announced as FFXVII or XVIII by around 2024-2025

I'm not convinced that a new MMO would be more profitable at this point. If they do make another MMO, I believe they've suggested that it'd be a different genre. I'm inclined to think they're going to stick with FFXIV as long as possible since WoW is still going despite being a much older game. ESO and GW2 are also still active despite aging as well.

I think they'll commit to more texture/customisation upgrades once the PS5 is more widely available. It's an impressive machine - though I probably won't be using mine for MMO's as I prefer sitting at a PC to play them.

Yes, they indicated as much here and here. Sounds like they have completely different ideas for any potential future MMO. An implication of this is that it wouldn't directly compete with XIV as it would be designed for a different audience.

With that said, the game's subs are at a healthy level, at least based on the Luckybancho readings, and some believe they'll surge further. They definitely seem to be thinking of the game over the longer term, and with the timescales they mention, I am a bit more optimistic that the game will see some more investment and potentially male Viera later down the line. It could end up like XI with no further updates, but the game is very good so far for their balance books and is on an upwards trend, so we'll see... especially if future story content is capable of being done on a more modular basis, given the standalone nature they're planning for each future expansion, so that you don't have to go through the full 2.0-6.0 slog just to enjoy the game.

Yeah but we haven't seen the full extent of them yet. They said they would be implementing further improvements in subsequent patches. I'm not expecting anything drastic, but with them basically saying that the newer consoles (really, referring to the prior generation as well) are more like PC specs to them, they're essentially easier to design for on an optional feature basis and the PS5 is a pretty powerful machine (for its price.)

It may even get graphical updates and the missing genders (provided they're not introduced in another expansion) if it's still deemed popular enough to undertake that challenge.

IIRC, the PS4 is already above their minimum requirements so it's not holding the game back, anyway (although some content DOES push it to its limits, and if 6.0 areas are larger than 5.0... yikes). That said, if the PS5 is enticing enough for technical updates, it may also be enticing enough for more updates.

An echo chamber is not inherently a bad thing. Just stating what the thread is why so many are getting defensive about it? In end doesn't the prove the point that others are getting defensive or calling others in disagreement are simply here to ruin the mood spoil people's fun. Sounds like an echo chamber to me which is cool, just calling a spade a spade.

Most people from what I can tell in the thread who are in disagreement seem to be rather polite, and accepting of different view points or ideas. The ones who are dismissive of other view points or ideas are those in favor of male bun bun. Any idea or suggestion that goes against the overall acceptably norm of a good looking character gets down fairly quickly.

In the end yeah an echo chamber is not inherently wrong or good. Though when others try to establish an echo chamber on a public forum that is when things get a tad murky for me personally. If this was a private group cool, but it is a public forum everyone has a right to post in agreement or not, People are free to talk about it, and by no means was my comment meant to dismissive of those who have strong feelings towards male viera, though let us be fair in the same vain as those in favor are free to talk about it, those who are against it or have a different preferred look for male viera should be free to do so without being considered as a troll or someone simply out to ruin the fun of others.

Indeed, it's not the PS4 holding it back, rather it's the gruntwork they'd have to undertake to create the high res assets.
