Probably! Personally, I just don't find a lot of variety in the options available, especially to women, in FF14; Outside of lalafell, they're all very human-shaped on top of being young and pretty.

Also generally I just expect the women of a lion people to at least look somewhat tough and imposing. (Like, strong enough to take down a horse??)

Thats the perfect reason to have a Beastman Race option.
Every other race is human-looking, also typically young and pretty, or as Theo puts it; conventionally attractive.
Like, its kinda boring. Im not against at least one cute option, but a beastrace should look fierce, they should be more designed to look tough. Why not give us 1 more more masculine-leaning female? We have enough standard and dainty, cute, pretty, waifu material characters. Lets have another pretty lady that is non-standard. Something that is tough.

They should be a beast race just like male hrothgar, rather than miqo'te 2.0, in my opinion. Just no femroe body, that would be a shame.

Is it not simply two sides of the same coin? I can't help but note that many of those wanting female hrothgar to not be designed as being conventionally attractive...actually find aesthetics that are not conventional to be attractive.

That's very much the case from how I see it, which is why I find squabbles over what they "should" look like to be kinda pointless as it's just a cycle of arguing for your thing to be chosen instead of another cause of subjective reasons.
"Everything is someone's thing" after all, so it's not like it's any more virtuous.

Putting on my arm-chair game dev hat I'd think it's clear what direction they would take the body shape.

I have NEVER wanted them to look like au ra, or miqo'te. Literally never! They wouldn't look like that ANYWAY. Even the little we have gotten from the artwork, that gets talked about all the time, shows them being comparible in height to femroe, probably around viera height. I just don't see the relevance in this right now.

As someone who played Femroe for years ... yes, they are very masculine. I've told my friend who praised my glams often that it is a struggle. It's basically a mini-game inside the game to find stuff that looks good when 60-75% of all tops make you look like a dude or makes you look like a dude wearing female clothes. I started religiously wearing 2B bottoms for the curves to balance it out and preached on FB groups about how they're a god-send for Femroe. Hell, there's certain armor sets where Femroe cut a better male shape than any of the males in this game (Eureka fending set for example, Femroe look like straight up male action figures)

After Hrothgar came out, and I played 1 for 5.0 story, I tried every female other than middie and lala and yeah ... Highlanders are a great example of what I think Hrothgar Females could look like. They look athletic but also unmistakably feminine, they are my favorite body type in the game. Given the art I think they will fall somewhere between Highlander and Viera.

I love the tricks you did with that outfit. Not only did you use the 2b bottoms for curves (and butt), you chose a corset top, making the midsection less wide. Well done! That actually made me chuckle.

People who want to be "crushed" ... or whatever... already have femroe.

You know, crushed, annihilated, destroyed, made into a fine pulp, etc.

But nah, like it's been said, it's a subjective matter we're just talking in circles around and it doesn't matter in the end. You might see femroe in that crass way, but I just see a really tall and decently buff body. It's simply just going to be some folks' default frame of reference in wanting some muscle on a beastly race, especially considering the men use an adjusted male roegadyn build.

Thanks, dressing her up and learning what works and doesn't work was a nice journey over the years (It DEF kept my dresser from filling up when we got dressers) but after trying out so many other females last year I just couldn't go back to giving up so many tops and glams.

And the only reason I can see for wanting Femroe bods is if they just like Masculine body shapes. Like it was pointed out in that post, it's 2 sides of the same coin ... they find these unconventionally attractive traits attractive.
We really don't need another Femroe and ANYTHING that's animalistic in a female face is already going to have limited appeal, so I'd think that's enough of a hurdle for appealing to people as is. I don't see the point in making something to only appeal to an even smaller demo than the Femroe one when the devs know how very very low their numbers are.

I also ran into this problem when playing femroe. Mostly because all female armor is usually suuuuuper tailored to a high feminine standard or cut. The frills and puffs totally destroy the femroe silhouette. Wouldn't be an issue if they're weren't so many gender locked glams but that's another thread.
