Well, Yoshi-P recently stated that the game isn't going anywhere and assured players that he wants another ten years out of it at the very least. With that in mind, there's plenty of opportunity for the missing genders to be added as well as an upgrade to character customisation across the board.

As an aside, even if a feature if flat out denied...that does not mean that the development team won't change their mind at a later date. Be it due to pressure from executives, the community itself or because they need something flashy to bring in new players/lure back players who have since left the game altogether.

With the timeframes they expect for the game lasting, it's also hard to believe it won't benefit from another race being added eventually, and there's apparently some graphics upgrades coming for the PS5. We'll see what those are.

It's Icon Textures. And it's possible they lowered the load speed cap for SSDs since the video shown. It's limited for certain fights in raids to avoid SSD advantage. Anyway should stick back to topic.

If the game does last 10 years, which I'll admit sounds quite unrealistic considering how this game is admittedly suffering from so many issues due to 1.0, and it would likely be more profitable and maybe even easy to make a new MMO instead of remaking this one from the ground up, then I believe we would certainly see more races and probably a character creator overhaul. That being said, I'll be quite surprised if we dont have a new SE MMO announced as FFXVII or XVIII by around 2024-2025
