As much as I'm hyped for Sage I will hope that maybe one day we'll get Chemist too. Healer that doesn't use magic (at least not as much as the others) would be really cool to have.
    chemist noun
    chem·ist | \ ˈke-mist \
    Definition of chemist
    1a obsolete : ALCHEMIST
b : one trained in chemistry
    2 British : PHARMACIST

It’s literally the same thing, what an alchemist did/does is what a chemist does. Alchemy just has an air of occultism attached to it.

Asking for chemist to be added to the game is like asking for them to add white wizard or black wizard to the game.

I'm scared of what they'll do to the existing healers. They could mess up even harder.

The offensive spells from SCH and AST are both rather dark.
AST's Malefic IV is a bright blue flash of stars spinning around in concentric orbits, Gravity is a massive spherical burst of white pearly light and Combust is another bright blue sparkly burst.

SCH's broil is a pearly barrage of projectiles hailing from silvery sigils that explode into blue/silver smoke. Biolysis is a dark blue geometric pattern that encircles the enemy and fades away.

I'd say SCH has the darkest offensive spells and the most neutral ones in terms of flashiness in both hue and concept.

Sage's spell design seem to gravitate heavily towards the use of elemental light with a lot of white sparkles and iridiscent and pearlescent effects. Light and Crystals seem to be a strong theme in Sage's design both in its weapons (Four floating aetherytes) and its spell effects (Shield is a crystaline veil, and magical sigils have diamond shaped runes. )

The heal shine is 100% a generic effect that happens on all healing actions. It comes with a sound effect, and critical healing even has a unique sound. This is the same as how actions that restore MP instantly (not Lucid Dreaming) have a sound and visual effect (most noticeable on DRK Blood Weapon and Syphon Strike).

To prove this, watch the Sage trailer again, specifically when the Sage casts the heal spell at the beginning. You'll faintly see the heal shine in the center of the heal spell, and again when the DRK uses Souleater (an action that restores HP) immediately after. The animations are exactly the same, the only difference is heal spells often cover up most of the generic shine.

The game has lots of generic effects. Yellow "wind" around weaponskills and blue "wind" around oGCDs (watch a MCH do Hypercharge and you'll see lots of yellow and blue around their feet). Actions that combo successfully have green lines around the player and a noticeable sound effect (if you do a combo action out of order you can note the lack of the sound). Offensive spell casting has upward flow in the color of the element used (rainbow means unaspected), while healing spells have swirls (unaspected is white/lavender).

Ignore the first cut for this. The first cut shows Dark Mind being used while the second and third cuts are a different take entirely where the DRK uses Hard Slash followed by Syphon Strike.

But yes the DRK definitely has Blood Weapon active, as there are those purple bubbles fading at the end of the Hard Slash. The white shine and greenish halo is the generic HP restoration animation, though. MP restoration has a red shine with the tiny purple bubbles swirling around. You can see the difference in the third cut, where the HP restore animation happens just before the barrier appears, then the DRK begins Syphon Strike where the MP restoration animation kicks in.

If you pull up the video on YouTube and pause around this time, you can hit "," or "." to watch the animation frame-by-frame.

Koji and YoshiP were joking about how it's a completely original idea and not stolen from Gundam. Was straight after they revealed SGE in the showcase iirc.

In addition to Yoshi-P and Koji's lighthearted denials, there are so many Gundam references it is almost silly. The name (Nu)oliths, the 4 being stored on Aliphinaud's back, the trailer's use of them being a recreation of Amuro Ray's Fin Funnel attack, and what I suspect are several more.

Also it makes the 5.3 "secret job reference" the G-Warrior fight instead of the chemist stuff. No wonder they were saying people were barking up the wrong tree.

The inability to throw glass bottles into the faces of people I must begrudgingly keep alive will forever be a loss I will never recover from.

But you know, machine gun lasers are a decent consolation prize.
