Yoshi-P outlined the problems with adding viera/hrothgar complete genders in a post right after Shadowbringers dropped, and nothing has changed the situation FFXIV's dev team is in.

If any of you watched the presentation on game production during Liveletter tonight you'd see that they're dealing with 75-85 days per patch to complete each patch cycle, on top of working on the next expansion. His post details the extreme time overhead that adding races adds to the patch cycle. The fact that hrothgar and viera have fewer headgear options and hairstyles is testimony alone to the truth of that.

They simply do not have the time or human resources to add more genders while keeping that tight patch schedule.

It would be great to see new genders, but as of right now the chance is extremely low, and I think it's even lower with covid.

Obviously, he would not open the announcement stream with such disappointing news, or really spend any time on it. Chances are, you'll only find out by its exclusion from the list of features in the 6.0 update.

This team has been able to do some wonderful things in the past, but they just had to push the new Ultimate back to 6.1, and if the reason was that they were working on male viera and female hrothgar, they would have told you tonight.

But the fact they they didn't use that as a reason for pushing back the new Ultimate points to them not being included in 6.0.

They were never going to announce everything in one day. The dream is still alive. There's still another showcase at a later date. Pretty sure they announced new races for Shadowbringers at the 2nd or 3rd Fanfest. What we got was...1 and a half Fanfests worth of information, pretty much. Yoshi P also padded a lot of this showcase time talking about numbers.

It's not an official announcement... and I will admit that I'm really reaching here for this. So... take this with a mountain if salt. But there was one possible hint when they said "we're going to the moon, and who lives on the moon???"

They didnt say we arent gwetting them, so I think its soon to say 'NO MALE VIERA FOR 6.0 CONFIRMED'. That being said, Im still keeping my expectations at a bare minimum. I guess we will know at the next fanfest hopefully

You guys are forgetting one thing that obviously went way over your head. The new 8-man alliance raid. Yoshi said it's an original FFXIV story that dives into the story/lore of something that hasn't been touched or w/e. (I forgot what he specifically said). This could be the story/lore behind male viera and female hrothgar. Quite possibly. Of course we'll know more in May.

i think they did that whole segment about budgeting and planning resources just about the missing races also with Covid pushing back ultimate
6.0 doesnt seem likely even more

one thing though, with a worldwide calamity, it gives the Male Viera a reason to leave the forests and given that we start at Thavnair or at least travel from there to Garlemald (assumed) we would likely cross through both Bozja and Dalmasca. So We could still see them. Also, the races wouldn't necessarily be announced now, but it would be a good announcement for the digital fanfest where they have the scope to go into detail around their design as they did with Female Viera and Male Hrothgar. I get that the schedule showed them being super tight in terms of resource, but I think that needs to be looked at in context. It is a development organisation flow and will not change at all, the only thing that changes is the content it is applied to and so it would really depend on YP and the devs agreed workflow. So if they decided to add them, then they would be included in the expansion workflow that we arent privy to, therefore we shouldn't see it as a precursor to not adding them, but rather an explanation of how the Development process is managed and organised from a Dev perspective.

I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that it won't happen, but I'm also not placing any money on it, so to speak.

Y'all are going to just keep reach aren't you. You been given all the evidence you need to know this isn't going to happen in 6.0 but you just ignore it. All I ask is that you please don't insult and threaten the dev team like last time when all the info is revealed and make Viera aren't there like what happened with ShB

No one is reaching, no one is ignoring anything, there was no 'evidence' or confirmation of it not happening. If it dosent happen, fair enough, but we have really got no idea if it actually will. Also, nobody is insulting or attacking the devs, and most ppl are simply asking politely to get a repsonse and making their voices heard. Thats what the forums are for.
