Why would it? I don't think having different sources of healing in either magicked items or healing spells make either less effective or contradict any established lore. Guns don't make bows obsolete. MCH doesn't make BRD obsolete. Please elaborate.

Just to add on to what you say... I hope side eye is wrong because I really hope the game's lore doesn't devolve to "Yep only pretty flower-culture jobs can be healer."

And then considering that IF we get a new healer this expac, it might be another 6 years till the next one, if there is a next one, that's a seriously depressing thought.

Well, if the argument is "Chemist would set the precedent that untrained people using items can heal, and that's bad for the healing lore" then is it possible you can just apply this to anything. Also why would you assume a Chemist is "untrained" in the healing arts. Even in real world, Doctors need extensive training to "heal". A battle-medic would not be some random ignorant person using items as a short-cut. They would need a strong proficiency it the using of items for effective healing.

I agree whole heartedly with this. Take Balsaljen for example, he is the only Garlean medic we have access to currently. He’s not just some adventurer with potions. He went through a lot of training and did quite well for himself, plus he’s leading a resistance now.

Apothecary trainer is in with the resistance (Estinien and Gaius). Since Garleans can't use aether, there are several members of the resistance that have learned how to mix potions in order to heal. The trainer isn't Garlean but was fascinated with the art and began learning it. She found that imbuing her own aether into the potions not only made some stronger, but also changed the effects that known potions had on the people that they gave them to. Becoming an Apothecary, you will learn how to mix the potions and how to imbue different aether into them to make them stronger.

Maybe it won't be a Chemist/Apothecary, but to claim that it "can't" be or "shouldn't" be because it sets a bad lore precedent assumes that the writers don't know what they're doing.

That's just some horrible fanfic that explains it away. I'm sure that they could come up with something much better.

In terms of visuals Sage is certainly enticing but I'll be sceptical until we get actual info on it's abilities and the way it plays.
