6.0 Predictions: Will it be Garlemald, Sharlayan, or Meracydia?

The Last Trace was confirmed as the location of the Delubrum Reginae raid, so I think my theory that Firelight Coffin area of the map will be the location of the final event of the Bozja Southern Front is kind of accurate (probably where that giant airship will anchor) and that we won't be getting another map, which puts more stock into the discovered Garlean Aetherythe not being for Bozja.

If it does end up being Garlemald, I'll celebrate with a bottle of champagne. I've wanted to explore Garlemald since the early days of ARR. I'm tempering my expectations, though - there's still an entire patch between now and 6.0 which means there's ample room for the plot to go in a completely different direction. My money's on a split expansion consisting of Sharlayan and Garlemald as both have been mentioned a lot recently but we'll see soon enough. Just a few more days to go!

We were told we are getting a new zone like the Front for the final part of Bozja.

But in favour of your point regarding the aetheryte, I was informed it had the flag of an overworld aetheryte compared to the special instance aetherytes used in adventuring forays.

Personally i think mercydia is atill in play it fits under the something hws related yoshia mentioned. I am going to rule out sharla. They haven't shown any interest in eorzea whatso ever i am sure a bunch of void towers are not going to get them interested all of sudden.( and speaking of void tower they look more like machi construction not garlean) Garlemalde is practically dust or shattered what have you no point going there. On a related note it could be that lunar bahamut is a voidsent maybe or something worse i actually think these void towers are going to attract well either the sound or sound related voidsent.

I dont think it will be Meracydia for a couple simple reasons.

1. Whe've already had our dragon themed expansion
2. Most of the races in Meracydia are non-human. Take a look at the non-human (non-playable race) characters in this game and try to tell two of the same species apart. It's just so much easier development-wise to set in a less exotic setting.

Plus, they can't just continue with the "We are going to Garlemald... another day" forever. Killing Zenos, the current emperor of Garlemald, without ever stepping into his borders sounds just silly to me. Many people expected Shadowbringers to take place there or at least partially before it was revealed.

I think the comment about "looking back to Heavensward" isn't going to be as obvious as "it will have more dragons".

Plus, they can't just continue with the "We are going to Garlemald... another day" forever. Killing Zenos, the current emperor of Garlemald, without ever stepping into his borders sounds just silly to me. Many people expected Shadowbringers to take place there or at least partially before it was revealed.

I admit it would be morbidly fascinating to have yet another expansion-plus-patches of "Meanwhile In Garlemald" stinger cutscenes.

On the bright side, it leaves open a power vacuum that a new individual can fill, probably resulting in Garlemald being at a bizarre location where it could be friend or foe. Could end up being a spicy twist where we don't know where it could lead.
