I'm less annoyed about it with combat gear because at least I can still make use of the stats. The items isn't entirely useless. But cosmetic gear? Its only function is looking a certain way so when you have races who cannot use it the item is completely meaningless.

The only reason I think we should have AF is due to the fact that AF gear is so iconic to the series and I appreciate that I can wear the SMN horn but I'm so sad I can't wear a RDM hat. Also sad I can't wear the Judge armor considering how many times as Fran I have battled Judges in FFXII.

I don't even play the two races in question here and I'm upset for you all. Any of the new events have 0 excuse to not be made for the races.. it's not like the events were a surprise or the races haven't been around for some time. =/

Even if we ignored hrothgar and viera for a moment, this rolling the events together and only giving a reskinned hat is a very disgusting practice. The fact that a portion of the playerbase can't even use the event reward is just the cherry on top.

I get square is probably being hurt by covid, but the fact that they keep making mog station items no problem really makes you think, and as someone who dabbles in 3d modelling here and there, putting a hat on a model is not difficult.

I'm so disappointed in square in this situation.

From what I gather, the team that makes mog station items is different from the other teams in that they have more time to work on just that. Though it still makes NO sense to just give viera and hrothgar NOTHING as an event reward.

I'd been debating fantasia-ing back into an older race but that really put the nail in the coffin - I love how viera look, but until they start caring about viera when it comes to things like this, I literally can't do it anymore.

(inb4 I fantasia back to viera in a month or two - yes, I know, look back at this and laugh, my viera looked *cute* god dang it)

What I find funny is how you all keep saying you understand they are having difficulties due to covid. It's not due to covid. Having unfinished races happened long before covid. It's why you don't have males and females for both races. The armor excuse was just that, an excuse. Viera use hume armor and hrothgar use roe armor. Most of the heavy lifting for converting them is automated. So no, the fact that you don't get a head you can wear is not because of covid, it's because you bought in to their "excuses" for why they couldn't do something and now they have a shield any time they don't want to do it. The only way they will ever give the races the effort they deserve is if you abandon viera and hrothgar completely. However, even then it's a tossup on if they would actually fix it or just abandon it more. SE does some things right but viera and hrothgar were complete failures from the minute they decided to only go halfway on them.

I don't think anyone is excusing this mess due to COVID because like you said, the mess was made months before COVID was a thing. What people are saying is that further updates to the races that were promised in 'future patches' may have become a lower priority due to COVID.

The fact that they are cutting/merging events in favor of other content is also understandable, we'll have to see if this is a permanent thing though.

This argument never makes sense to me, you're suggesting people should give them even more money for Fantasia so that they'll maybe do what they said they would? Yeah, that'll teach them.

People should absolutely Fantasia if they're unhappy with their current race for whatever reason, but you're not exactly sending them a message or sticking it to 'em by doing so. You're.. just giving them more money.

I finally used the free fantasia on my new main. Switched her from Viera to Au Ra.

It's just blatantly obvious at this point that SE regrets ever having added Viera and Hrothgar to the game, and plan on continuing to neglect them entirely.

Yea I totally agree that having invisible hats for certain gear sets removes an iconic piece. I really feel that at least for AF gear the hats should be visible on everyone. The AF gear is supposed to be the signature look for your class and well if the iconic piece from that set isn't visible it doesn't quite have the impact that it should. Although I do admit I'm not sure how the sch hats could be adapted for viera ears. Not a problem on hrothgar but the shape of the top of that hat would have to be completely changed for it to not look stupid on viera. They could just give them a different looking headpiece though instead of literally none.

You know, it wouldn't be so bad for Viera and Hrothgar if the recent events didn't have just hats as the only clothing option. And I think another idea is to make hats a bonus for mog station items, not part of the full price. And standalone hats should be free.

Oh man. Smells like self centered entitlement in here. Just a reminder - Viera/Hrothgar was never meant to be added but they did anyways, for you guys. (Mainly Viera). Hrothgar was a personal choice by the dev team. I understand the reasoning behind it but by acting like you're so entitled to it like SE "Owes" you is just ludicrous.
