    while i doubt theyll give us a material specific inventory, something thatd go a long way would be deleting a bunch of redundant materials and replacing old recipes with them.

    were gonna go into 6.0 with over 11 different types of spring water. Theres also quite a few different tomatoes, milks, beets and other similar mats. Not to mention a bunch of random plants that only see use in one or at most two culinarian recipes and thats it (not even at-the time relevant recipes either)

    do we really need that many variations of the same mat for what are going to be irrelevant years-old crafts?

    Basically, they should have a separate inventory but the item system was poorly designed at the beginning in a way that they can't easily fix now. That's what they've told us every time inventory comes up and there was an explanation post about it a while back.

    It definitely sounds like a good idea though I'm not sure how you'd do it without emptying out a lot of gathering nodes, and unless they can rebuild it, the crafting system doesn't seem to be set up to allow substitutions - which is a pity because it would help a lot to just need one of several options instead of being so specific.
