I'm surprised Idleshire and Mor Dhona don't have housing wards.

We could literally have housing anywhere if they looked more to what games like ESO are doing with housing and putting their own spin on that insanely wonderful system instead of sticking so hard to wards.

We could easily keep wards in the major cities, like we have now, for those who want to stay with that system and then make the instanced housing in other areas.

For those who do not know how ESO handles housing. They have houses scattered throughout the world in cities and in the fields that everyone can buy and have their own small instance of. Some are like our apartments and some have gates around them which allows for yards and those yards are different depending on the house. Some have bodies of water attached, some have pools or waterfalls, some are just plain. Some are square, some round, some oval and some shapeless, but they all represent the area in which they are located. You can also own every house in the game if you really want to.

At this point in the game, hoping for a housing revamp is likely just setting yourself up for disappointment.

I remember one time i suggested a tent miscellany that could be pitched in any spot of the ffxiv open world that would have an animation of a tent with a mini chocobo stable showing the player's gc issued chocobo, once pitched the tent area becomes sanctuary and if I may add the tent acts as a portal going to an instanced living area kinda like the tents in the Harry Potter movie.

This! Chrystarium is way more sexy than Ishgard. Also Eulmore and Amaurot. Jeez almost every single area in Shadowbringers is absolutely gorgeous. I wouldn't mind renovating a pixie house or a little spot in Lube Mheg either.

"Lore potential" is absolutely irrelevant. If the devs want to add a housing ward out in the boonies, the writers can just come up with a reason. They have an army of creative people working on that game.

The problem is probably more related to not wanting to funnel resources into building more housing areas as this is kind of a niche feature that not enough players care about.

Maybe I’m weird but I love Ishgard and the lore. I think it’s because I love cold weather and cold aesthetics and gothic dark architecture, and enjoy like vampiric aesthetics. So yes, i imagine roleplaying in ishgard.

People are still living in Mor Dhona. I really don't see how "corrupted aether" would come into play. And not being a city state doesn't seem like it would exclude you from living somewhere.
It just seems wasted to build up these locales, and then just never come back again except to grab your wonderous tales book.
While I'm sure sea of clouds or an underwater bubble would be a fine place for housing. It just doesn't have the same gravitas to me. We didn't build anything there, we didn't watch it grow from a tent city. theres no real attachment. They used resources to have a staggered growth for those two locations, it seems reasonable they would continue it to some extent.
Idyllshire even used to be a citystate before it was abandoned. It should already have some sort of housing ward lorewise, even if its currently in disrepair.

Because they trade with other cities as if they were a city state. It's size is also an indicator. The only thing that it doesn't have is a marketboard, or an airship dock, but with old Sharlayan not having a dock, and Ratz-At-Han not having marketboards, this hardly matters. Revenants Toll and Idyllshire are absolutely city states, they just aren't as big as others. Each area could be called its own domain in its own right however.

The Doman Enclave, and Eulmore are also a city states of similar size. I think the definition for what constitutes as a city state is too loose in the lore to even make sense these days.

The official google definition for a city state is "a city that with its surrounding territory forms an independent state."

Mor Dohna, Doman Enclave, and Idyllshire absolutely control a territory that extends beyond the city. Idyllshire may not control Dravania as a whole, but they do control the entire Hinterland after the defeat of the Illuminati. Mor Dohna also is in the same boat with the defeat of the Garleans. There might be a base there, but technically they do not exist. It's just a pain for Square Enix to phase them out. Doman Enclave is also the same boat, but they actually let the Garleans get phased out.

Probably because the requirement to buy a house is level 50 and upping it specifically for greater than level 50 areas would likely be problematic from a logistical standpoint.

There's also the time-tested player complaint. "WAAAAH, THEY GOT SHADOWBRINGERS HOUSING BUT I CAN'T GET IT BECAUSE I HAVEN'T LEVELED ENOUGH!!! THAT'S NOT A FAIR, PROPER, OR RIGHTEOUS THING!!! I'M PAYING THE SAME AMOUNT AS EVERYONE ELSE AND EXPECT TO HAVE EQUAL ACCESS!!!! LEGACY PRIVILEGE!!! VETERAN FAVORITISM!!!, etc, etc, etc. Then there are the responses "Noob, buy a skip if you want it that bad." or "WTF, you're not at Shadowbringers yet? This game is SO EASY, you're a loser for not being able to get to that point in a couple days!!!". How about "You don't deserve the house because you haven't put in the time like I have. Too bad, so sad.".
