Another wasted day waiting for a house.

After playing off and on for two years I decided to get a house. I missed all the new housing patch times so I have been trying to wait out the random timer system while I compete with all the others in the same boat. I spent over 12 hours again today waiting for a small plat only to have it snagged away by someone on a transfer yet again. This has happened many times...

I am venting but it is obvious to me that it is unfair for someone who already has a small plot to just swap across lots, not even an upgrade in size, just wasting everyone else's time and forcing all of us to start over at another random timer.

Please put some thought into changing this terrible system.

I hope that the developers have some improvements to the housing system, the more reason to watch the ffxiv announcement showcases on Feb. 5

If the person in question was literally just swapping plots to mess with people and waste their time then i would agree with you. These people are very rare, but they do exist. However, most of the time when someone swaps into a small its because they like it better then the old lot they had. Maybe it has a better view(beachfront versus back alley), maybe it has better amenities(bell/board right outside instead of a few lots away), or maybe its in a district the player prefers(shiro versus goblet). People have also swapped to be closer to FC/friends houses, and some rare folks even downgrade from a large/medium to a smaller house(either for one of the above reasons, or for decorating reasons - a mansion in particular isnt easy to decorate well).

I do wish you luck in your house hunting. And if you dont end up with a great lot, i wish you future luck in your house relocation too.

They had 6 years to figure this out. So frustrated! I've been camping plots for months now.

If you are playing on and off, why even get a house, if you exceed the 45 day limit, it will go kaboom anyway.

As for housing, there is plenty of them, been a drought for around a year due to they froze the timers, but ya would see more houses popping up everywhere, I notice quite a lot of 1 person FCs though, if SE made restrictions to that would require at least activity of 6 members to maintain a FC house, not counting alts of the FC owner, would do alot as well.

    Full stop.

Don't bother then. Until SE decides to remove all reference to about-to-be-available plots, if you don't have a bot, you aren't getting a house.

I just gave up until the next big housing patch or they actually fix the system. *Money goes back into retainers*

And now they're all having 3-4 bots hanging around them, scripting the process until one of them wins it when the timer runs out.

Just putting this out there since I'm not sure if you know, but people do beat bots. When I got my first home with my bf, we beat out 4 bots and 5-6 real players. You don't NEED a bot to get a house, it's just luck. He literally lagged and still won. XD

I just don't think it's fair to deter people by saying "Well sorry you're beat unless you resort to botting." It's really not the case and I know for a fact that he and I are not the only people who have beaten them. Yeah, the current housing system is frustrating but in my opinion, it accounts for every kind of player there could be: from no-lifers like me to people who have jobs and families by letting it go for up to 24 hours and they deserve a house just as much as people who spend all day online.

If you play on and off, I'm in agreement with Themarvin. Buying a house is not a good choice since you'd end up losing it to demolition during your next "off", wasting both your gil and the effort you put into getting the house. An apartment would be a better choice - easy to get, much less expensive and it is yours for as long as you keep your account unless you decide to voluntarily relinquish it. I know players aren't happy about the small size but there's still a lot you can do with an apartment.

If you expect to remain subscribed without interruption going forward, then it would be worthwhile to get the house.

The system is fair even if you don't like it. Those who relocate had to go through the initial buying process to get a house themselves. They don't get to relocate for free. The discount offered when relocating is only about 10% of the purchase price so the player is effectively paying twice to get a preferred plot. The number of available houses doesn't change, only the location.

Is the system also bad? Sure, but that's because the supply doesn't meet demand. For any real improvements to be seen, SE will need to fix the supply problem. Otherwise, there will always be disappointed players who want a house but can't get one.

I beat 3 bots to get my FC house. It *is* possible.
