We really get this going on nearly every corner now, so I'd welcome a slower change of pace instead of saving the day again.
I can understand the sentiment, but really, this is a FF game we're playing: saving the world from the evil forces that would destroy or consume it is ultimately the goal of every FF game, so that sort of thing is pretty much part of the WoL's job description here accordingly.

Yes, it's cliched and hackneyed, but at it's heart, saving the world and it's inhabitants from an apocalypse is the fundamental goal of every FF game - FFXIV just has it worse being a MMO with a continuing, ongoing storyline with your character the outright champion of Hydaelyn so alas, saving the planet is always going to be dumped in your capable hands to deal with for better or for worse.

But I do like the times where the WoL is aknowledged to be still just an adventurer at heart who likes the thrill of going out adventuring (exploring new lands, killing monsters and gaining shinies) - I grinned when that was outright stated during the initial quest for the Void Ark for instance - so maybe more of that 'standard adventuring' style questing could be added in the future in addition to the more lofty "Hydaelyn is in danger again from evil Zodiark and his red masked groupies/the Empire is being elitist, jingonistic bullies again, you got to save Her/stop them!" main scenario.
