Odd Shower Thought: Almost All the Magic Artwork is Female, Why?

So I had an odd thought while I was resting from a headache; not actually taking a shower, lol. Whenever SE adds a new job, they show us the "newest" WoL artwork for said job, but almost all of the artwork depicting the Disciples of Magic WoL are female, even the initial classes.

The only "confirmed" male is the Summoner, with possibly the Thaumaturge Lala being male as well. But Conjurer, White Mage, Black Mage, Arcanist, Scholar, Astrologian, Red Mage, and Blue Mage are all depicted as female. It's just an odd thought once you think about it.

Also, to clarify, since I know people will express doubt. We know the BLM is female based on two seperate comments Koji Fox made regarding the original WoL in the ARR trailers and the WoD seen in HW.

Additionally, to see how the other artworks stack up for DoW,

Male: Gladiator, Paladin, Warrior, Dark Knight, Gunbreaker, Dragoon, Pugilist, Ninja, Archer, Machinist, Samurai (SAM is debatable too, but the general consensus is it's a male)

Female: Marauder, Lancer, Monk, Rogue, Bard, Dancer

There are more males but it seems a bit more balanced.

Ultimately, none of this really matters, it's just an odd thought that I wanted to share.

On a real note the jobs are derived from the source material. So obviously Paladin and Dark Knight come from FF4...Rosa was a white mage....Rydia was a Summoner

Atleast my guess where they start from on deciding how to place a gender.

That's not entirely accurate. The first two confirmed DRK and WHM are both from FF2, Leon and Minwu, both of whom are male. Rydia being the first mainline SMN also doesn't work since the artwork is of a male. Same with BLM and MNK with Porom and Yang. And Bartz is usually the most iconic Dancer in the series. In fact watching the minister on the development of ShB showed the artist wanted to make the DNC male but changed it at the last minute for some reason, I think cause the GNB art was male too.

What was his specific comment about the WoD though? I've only seen the quote about the 1.0 group including the female Elezen and not the male.

His comment was along the lines of saying, the WoD aren't the same individuals from the 1.0/ARR trailers. It was in response to peoples shock when the Magus of Darkness was revealed as male, when people were expecting a female. Whether, it's a retcon or not is unknown, but it is a follow-up to the other statement, in a way.
