It's useful for if you just wanna do an emote or two without also announcing it through chat.
You can do the emote motion only without having to go through a menu to toggle log message off, do the emote, and then toggle log messages back on.
I don't see how this is related? In general, yes, being able to do motion in text commands would be a neat idea.
However, the issue I'm bringing up isn't me having to open emote log, turn text off, emote, then turn text back on, which is what it sounds like you're trying to point out. The issue is people, random people you don't know, spamming emotes and choking out anything else that is being said or is happening.
These people aren't manually typing in /slap /slap /slap /slap into chat (or using the arrow keys to bring up what was previously typed in, if I truly need to point this out), they're using the emote buttons, possibly even have them on their hotbars specifically so they can spam their friends with it. But if you're in a normal area--and let's exclude cities, as there's lots going on in the cities--or even an instance like
pointed out, this becomes a major issue. This is why I'm asking for an active chat filter.
... But I do type my emotes, and repeating it is as simple as pressing enter, up and enter again.
Not the point of the thread. It doesn't matter what way you spam your emotes. The problem are the people who refuse to turn their text off and spam the chat log. I really wish I took screenshots of the event that finally made me make this thread... I'm not exaggerating that they got minimum a hundred emotes off within a few minutes, as there were several of them. The point is their spam, not the way they spammed.
They can connect all they want, buddy, but not like this. The reason I made this thread was because I, too, was trying to talk to people, and it all disappeared because of their emote spam. Are they more important than my friends for some reason? I know this isn't what you were getting at, but it's still a ridiculous thing to point out. It has nothing to do with the thread.
