This is what I'm talking about with this game not being positive. You're a prime example of why both games have bad players who fan boy to no end using strawman tactics that wouldn't be out of place in a debate between CNN and Fox News.

Offer a solution that does not the destroy the core fundamental attraction of an FF game then we can talk. The entire point of a FF mmo was to have an amazing story and to deviate from the WoW formula of only caring about the destination and not the journey.

You also seem to think FF14 is not nice to new players because of FC's in your example. You leave out the massive incentives given to end game players to join in dungeon content with new players who do not even realize what is going on.

You can take my word that leveling in WoW prior to them just gutting their leveling experience all 110+ levels of that was done mostly alone and NO chance you were ever going to see any leveling raids much less dungeons if you were a DPS. Also due to the CONSTANT system changes in that game what you learned at lvl 50,...60...70...80 and so on was utterly useless at end game.

Ironically, that's actually one of their flaws. Sure the XIV devs are stubborn in certain aspects *cough* "pure healers" in a game practically designed to be a green dps that happens to heal *cough*, but at least they mostly give their reasonings to why not, whereas in WoW it's either straight up silence or they go up to 11 in what ends feeling like a "careful to what you wish for" situation.

Nobody is ever happy because many of their decision making ends up looking like this:

Ah yes. The chat where new players would likely get some of their first impressions of the game's community is clearly less important than say chat. Silly me.

It's unfortunate that a place for first impressions is on par with WoW for filthy talk, but that's also irrelevant to the point.
Where it happens doesn't give it any more or less weight in a flat comparison like this.
14 has a toxic novice network.
WoW has a toxic community.
In fact, that there is a big thread going on now about cleaning up the novice network (the one you referenced) just highlights the differences between these communities.

I don't buy it. I can claim ppl scream gibberish all day in chat. It doesn't make it so. I got reported a single time for language and was moved into gaol and warned if I did it again I would get banned. These NN reports are fake or people are not taking the time to report the offenders so they get banned.

The novice network is a unique situation because it allows trial accounts to participate. So, if you want to post nasty stuff you make a free account... If that account gets banned you make another one... and another one... and so on.

That should be very easy to investigate if that is indeed the problem. Find out who keeps inviting these people to the network and ban them as well. Problem solved.

I mean, it's kind of the same reason they can't really do anything about bots and gil seller spam. If you're going to do something illegal you use stolen accounts.

Considering a lot of the bots seem to have names like someone threw a keyboard down the stairs I'm not sure they're primarily using stolen accounts.

I think we've all received the random phishing scam pms at one point or another; those are generally what supplies these bot farms. They create jibberish characters on different worlds with your account, log in when you're not active and use your account to spam.

That's how it happens with most games like this at least.

That’s one particular troll and in all honesty there’s a huge chance he came from WoW.

If you think final fantasy 14 has a similar problem with racism, sexism and homophobia to what WoW definetly had back when I played it, then you’re playing different games to me.
