I agree . . . but I also appreciate that when the 99 totem whistle or horn or whatever is patched in there is a renewed wave of people running that content, without which, it can be hard to get in on these raids if you weren't able to run them when they were first patched in.
Not that there isn't a healthy middle ground, or something else they could patch in later to provide that same resurgence.

Agreed. It actively discourages you from farming until the trial gains Echo and the 99 token exchange. Why risk having to spend 200 attempts on the same trial on hard mode when you can wait a few months and have echo, better gear, increased droprate and a token trade if you get unlucky?

As I've said before, if you farmed EX as current content 99 times, you deserve the mount.

To be fair, the Echo, having better gear and increased droprate should result in renewed interest from all the players who struggled while the trial was current.

This is why they delay being able to purchase mounts. They're banking on people doing exactly what you did: spamming it beyond the 99 times, thus keeping the content alive longer. If they let you purchase the mount from the onset, you'd have stopped at 99 and may never gone back.

After you get 99 totems you've guaranteed the mount, just wait for the whistle. No reason to run more after that point short of foolishness or impatience.

Which a lot of people are. Look at how I quoted. They ran it 340 additional times. Plenty of people do the same thing, hence why they wait.

My old FC leader on Tonberry ran Titania EX about 250 times despite getting the mount drop around the 120 mark.
