Keeping the Besaid community together post server merge!

Hopefully when the votes have been cast and the period of enrollment begins, there will be an announcement made by the RPC on behalf of the RP community on Besaid as to which server we will be moving to. There have been some good arguments about Server 9 (Since 10 is the German/French server, 9 can be the RP server, that sort of thing).

This is also an opportunity for RPers on other servers to join the 'main' RP hub server, which ever it will be, which is very exciting. Very nerve-wracking too, I don't want to lose any of the the community (RP and non-RP) to another server. I hope we can all come together even if 'our' server is not the one that happens to be chosen. Stick together, Besaid.

Just to keep people in the loop, the current 'plan of action' as of 2/9/2012 for RPers is:

1) Petition for an RP server, if they announce an RP server select it!

2) If there is no RP server, and they announce server names; choose BESAID no matter what number it is.

3) If they do not show names, pick server 9*

Reasons for picking 9:
-End of the list next to 10, which is a specialized server
-Is not 7, or any of the other obvious choices
-Is taking heavy lead in the RP poll with regards to world transfer
-If we announce (and make some noise) about 9 being RP server early, a good portion of the Besaid community will sway that way as well, as evident on official forums. (Many are waiting on us to say where we are going.) That will also influence other communities who may pick 9, since they will already know RPers are going there. (aka people who want nothing to do with RP)

We should prepare for worse case scenario with SE not giving out server names or announcing an official RP server while pushing for them to do just that.

^ This. While my views on the RP server support has changed, this is a good plan of attack for keeping the server together. Besaid, please, for the community (RPers and Non-RPers) follow this!

In regards to the RPist poll going on, if you guys are going to announce what sever you all are deciding on it needs to be at least 5-7 days BEFORE the selection process goes live, so that people know where to go ahead of time.

If this cant be done, its pretty much a done deal that everyone thats non RP will be trying to get in a server with their shell on day 1 instead since those shells arent going to wait til the last second to see what everyone else decides. This needs to be planned out sooner then later

Well, currently "World 9" is winning by 63% of the vote with the RPC people and the next-highest votes only have 9% each, so unless more come out and suddenly swing the vote in some other direction, they will probably elect 9 as their server of choice.

There was a post translated by Reinheart over in General Discussion, SE MIGHT go a different route with the merge. It could all change though, so we should still be prepared for the worst.
