Who do you think will be the main characters allies in 6.0 ?

I hope the twins Alisaie and Alphinaud at least stay on the sideline´s in 6.0 they have been been following us around since Hw, and I'm started to get tired having them around.

Also i'm little worried about G'raha.

though nothing bad has happened to all that narrate the story, some did not survive after narrating

I think the post goes on a sense of characters that get more spotlight during the story rather than who tags along with us.

The whole of the Scions is pretty sure to be there, but i'd expect more spotlight for the twins, since they felt a bit lacking in the sense of, as Alisae says, character development. Maybe they'll get their moment in the cinematic trailer?

Also, if next expansion is focused on ending the war with Garlemard, I'd expect Estinien and maybe even Gaius to get more presence in the MSQ.

It's not going to be Garlemald. The empire is done already. Fractured into too many sub-factions, to pose any sort of major threat anymore.

5.4 MSQ being in Ishgard and mentioning Matoya for the dungeon, just leads us to Sharlayan. The fact that the twins dad was name checked recently and he has a character model adds weight to this. He will be a main character. If we are concluding the Hydaelyn/Zodiark arc in 6.0, Sharlayan seems the sensible place to go. A split between Sharlayan and the New World would not surprise me. There's some Garleans over there Zenos can throw at us, Alphinaud can beceom a Blue Mage, we can have a Mamool-Ja primal etc..

Would love to see Unukalhai get some screentime again, I loved his story bits. His connection to the Ascians (whose role is supposedly coming to an end) and stance on the Empire (shaken a bit by Regula's sacrifice... maybe) feel like they could be leveraged, but I think the devs might've forgotten he exists. And between all the nerdy, white-haired Scions he'd have a hard time standing out... not that that's stopped them before.

The problem with bringing him back into the story is the same one that made Crystal Tower a prerequisite for 5.3 - the writers cannot build on his story in the MSQ if it started in a sidequest (time-travel exemptions aside) in case the player has not completed the sidequest first to put things in the right state for the MSQ to pick up.

Quite literally, they will make the Warring Triad mandatory before we ever see him involved in the MSQ.

(On a side note, Unukalhai was one of my early guesses for the identity of the "mysterious voice sending warnings from the future" in 4.4...)

I have felt that both Sharlyan and Garlemald will probably be involved in 6.0 since it is the season 1 finale, otherwise it does not feel like a real conclusion, plus with how much they have been hinting at it for two expansions now I will be very disappointed if it is another expansion before we Finally go there.

This, but our visit to Garlemald won't be 'fighting a war against the Garleans' like many seem to think. We've already done that in SB.
I expect it'll be a more grandiose goal, involving Hydaelyn and Zodiark, Zenos and Fandaniel, Sharlayan and Garlemald.
There might be some zones in Islabard, but our visit to Garlemald itself will likely just be a passing visit on our way to our showdown against Zenos.

It'd be nice to finally see Sharlayan, so I wouldn't mind if the next Expac takes us there. I've been RPing as a Sharlayan for a while, so it'd be nice to finally put a face to the name, you know?

It makes zero sense to sideline the conclusion of a conflict against Garlemard that has spanned since the very beggining of FFXIV and is one of the core elements in the whole story. Makes even less sense specially after the events in 5.3 epilogue, which hints it's Garlemard where there's trouble brewing.

Plus, barring ShB, SE has never been subtle when it comes to hinting where the next expansion might be leading. ARR had us dealing with both Dravanians and heretics, we had several hints throughout HW that there was trouble brewing concerning Ala Mhigo,... The only hint I've ever seen about Sharlayan being the place for 6.0 was the name of a future 5.4 dungeon, which isn't a really strong lead, given HW had us go through 4 Sharlayan themed dungeons and we didn't get any Sharlayan expansion then. On top of that, what's even happening there that could lead us to go there? I mean, there are thousands over thousands of possibilities but that doesn't mean each and every of them has any significant reason to be true. There could be a compressed Divina Omega Ultima Weapon hidden under Tataru's table but that doesn't mean we have any reason to believe there is. We could go on and on about possibilities if we go through the line of the "could"-s.

And for all we know, Sharlayan has shown themselves to be utterly isolationist at most and pretty averse to wage war on their neighbours, to the point of being willing to abandon a colony at the first moment Garlemard set its sights on Eorzea. To suddenly become a menace on the star would be nothing short of a complete 180º change.
