This thread is funny to me, but only because I'm currently in the ethics in practice section of my course and we just covered the ways in which people justify unethical behaviour to themselves. This thread so far has included several of them already, e.g. "it's not a big deal," "everyone does it," "if I don't do it I won't get what I want," "there's no consequence so why not do it?," etc. We have a reflective journal due on Thursday where we reflect on a situation and I think I'm going to use this as my example. Love when real life and the game collide like this.

Your post but written honestly: I leave early on fates all the time because I want other to do all the work for me and refuse to not get every single reward. It's absolutely impossible for me to organize the fate train so I'm going to continue to be a selfish player who takes advantage of others, so that I can not miss out on the rewards others earn for me.

I'm sure they're getting gold on the FATE solely because of the work of others /s

I honestly cant believe this wasnt a necro'd thread from 2015, Theyve already done what they were going to do with the formula, fixing things like not syncing as a healer but still healing the lead tank gets you gold(back in them atma days) FATEs have been basically the same as they ever were from day one. Start a PF, shout for invites, join a farming party, or follow the train. Was able to solo the relic upgrade at patch launch because everyone and their mother thought bozja was the place to be, there might have been like 4 or 5 others as crazy as me in those areas farming. Come back with the next step and ask people doing bozja how their progress was, for science. Now that everyone knows the efficient method the areas are probably super full, so should prob get in a farming party, and either split up and tag FATEs or burn them for Gold.

I'm surprised this has come up as an issue now of all times, especially since this community has been doing this since ARR which is pretty much good luck on getting any sort of change out of it.

Leeching would be doing an auto and let everyone else do the work, people who generally jump from one fate to another early(and they tend to wait until the 85%+ mark so pretty much ensuring fate completion because no one wants to spend time on a fate and have it fail regardless because it is wasted time) has contributed enough for gold rating themselves before moving on you couldn't change that behaviour no matter how much you want to, changing the fate system to something like Onvi could have more complaints than worth looking at the 1 min wait period for the collect fates do 60 of those and you have just stood around in a game for 1 hour >_> yea I'll rather have people early leaving fates for me and others to complete than that thank you very much.

The biggest takeaway from this thread is this:

You cannot control others or how they play. No one is forcing them or you to stay or help or do anything.
If someone wants to break off and head to the next FATE I wont stop them or get angry at them and its not against the TOS unless they are constantly and intentionally resetting the FATE monsters to grief others. Which I haven't seen any indication of.

Folks may not like it, but they did contribute and the fates are ending and cycling so fast right now its not really that big of an issue.

So since you no longer have any argument against what I'm saying your only tactic is portraying me as being miserable because? Just because I have an opinion about doing this does not mean I lose any sleep over it.

"But Driavna you don't do fates trains because of this!" No, I don't do fate trains because I find it stressful, so I rather do it at my own pace since farming fates alone is something I find relaxing.

Edit: I will also add one thing, you are not only playing a videogame, but you are also interacting with other people.

Correct, you are interacting with other people, so you need to stop trying to treat them like your personal property and leave them alone to make their own decisions.

Especially somewhere like Bozja where a critical engagement could pull you away.

Sure you are. You get credit for both and they'll likely both finish at similar times. Looping back is an edge case that can potentially happen but doesn't often.

People at the fate you're heading to are going to want credit at the fate you just came from. So they can go to it and most likely finish it.

The idea that fates won't get completed if everyone does this is absurd. Two FATEs are up. You work on 1, then move to 2. You're already at 2 and you finished your work on 1, so you can stay and clear 2. It's in your best interest to clear it so that another will pop.
