About the World Merge and Character Transfers (02/09/2012)

This is quite possibly one of the worst decisions they've chosen to make. To be blunt they're now saying "Pay us right now to keep playing with your friends after the merge or f*** off" to many players who aren't currently playing. What I don't understand is why they're not doing a simple server merge as they did with FFXI, merge two servers together. This leaves players who aren't paying right now but will later the ability to stay with their friends. But doing as they're planning now we're going to lose so many people we've come to know to this crap. I hate to do something like this and I know it probably won't make a lick of difference, but it could be enough to just make me quit myself. What's the point playing if you either have to start from scratch, or never experience the game with your friends again? I love FFXIV, and I'm still here even after some of the questionable stuff.

Yoshi-P, Tanaka, whoever the hell is in charge I strongly strongly urge you to reconsider these plans for the merges. Right now you're going to force your playerbase to choose between paying for a game they don't justify as being worth it yet or keeping their characters where they belong.

lol I just remembered RL friend playing on same server as me gonna get shifted because he's still at boot camp and job training during this server merge LOOOOL orz.... doubt he will be able get get in while he's at training

Like many people I have several friends who have had to stop playing for one reason or another. Many were planning to come back in a few months. I say "were" because I am pretty sure that when I tell them they will be shipped off to some random server and we probably won't be able to play with each other again they will never come back. Likely, they will tell other people how much they were punished by SquareEnix for daring to take a break from the game. For an MMO with one of the worst reputations on the market this decision is baffling.

I know this post/thread will probably not be read by anyone at SE. But on the off chance that someone is listening it would be nice if they rethink this a bit. At least get a "pay to transfer" option up and running.

You could use that "one time phone call" and get his info ^.^
I would also enjoy playing with most of you on these forums, yes we have our differences, though, I think it could be really fun. You could also get your chance at bugging me with your goobuuu

My friends consist of my linkshell. Easy.

It's still not hard to talk to people; No matter how many "friends" you have.
One could hardly believe you have countless friends on servers that currently hold minimal players.

You mean all the people who are currently away till "2.0" or the people I don't have in my linkshell but talk a lot to, but they have to follow their own linkshell? Or the people you lose when you finally picked a server to go to and then ends up being "full" and others are left out. Sure you can switch to another server with your current active linkshell members, but getting all those other types of people all over: no way.

Players who do not select a destination World during this period will be automatically distributed across the Worlds.

What a TERRIBLE system. I don't want to be split up from the hundreds of people I am familiar with on Trabia. I'm not in linkshells with all of my friends, I have many friends across trabia, some I only know from the occasional crafting agreement, some I have defeated ifrit with and others xp parties.

Distributing us ACROSS worlds will scatter us and ruin the community I love, this may very well ruin the game for me.
