I agree that it seems a bit stupid to have the skill remove time constraints. However heliocoprion is currently testing my patience OwO. Maybe it would be better to have it be something akin to a 20% increase in catch rate to catch those low catch rate fishes.

A rework of Fish Eyes is appreciated. The skill worked well in HW by preventing you from using Patience I / II, but since the GP cap increased and we can use cordials now while fishing the skill has lost his purpose. All what is left is the stupid annoying problem with multiple different types of Fish Eyes in the same spot.
But circumventing the time requirements for fishing is not the way to go. And it won't make fishing "more accessible". Fishing has other problems, namely too many baits and outside sources are required to catch even the simplest fish. People have long quit before they reach a point where they would need that new Fish Eyes skill...
I see no issue with it removing the time requirements for a short period of time especially if it is the same gp cost it currently is. Combining that with patience is still going to drain your GP fast. It just will let people with less time on their hands get into big fishing. There still will be the weather requirements which can still make it rough for some people. Plus for some fishing holes a skill that removed time reqs can actually make it harder to get the fish you want due to multiple timed fish suddenly becoming available. I see it as a better GP use for fish eyes than the current very frustrating use it has at fishing holes with multiple fish eye buffs. (Note I have caught all the timed and / or weather restricted fish and have no issue with it becoming easier for newer players. I still think it that the got away chance should go down for fish that you out level in any case.)

As someone who just completed the log, I think it is a totally fair change and I would have liked to have it earlier.
I'd rather wait for hours in front of a fishing spot, trying again and again until the fish bites, instead of trying for 5 minutes, waiting for an hour, trying for 5 minutes etc.
That being said, I think it would be nice for this skill to be a 'catch up mechanic', so that hardcore fisher can still have the challenge they are striving for when a patch launches - for example by having it work exclusively on previous expansions fishing spots.
So the whole point of these changes sounds like the goal is to make fishing more popular...well consider what actually creates a boom in participation.
Ocean Fishing is released and you have tons of people queuing for it because.......it has rewards people want! I remember everyone wanting that Shark mount so much when Ocean Fishing released it was a very big deal.
So if we want to make overworld fishing more popular as well, what then would be the best thing to add? Items from desynthesis that used to exist! There's other possibilities too...perhaps NPCs that trade big fish for in game items if desynthesis isn't something you want to go back to.
The niche audiences like myself who do fishing because we love collecting or just the challenge will be be attracted to anything, but the majority of players are only going to do something if they can get a reward for doing it and right now there's just not enough of a reward for doing big fishing for most people to care.
I would not make any major changes to fishing windows that makes them unrecognizable to the people who have enjoyed them for so many years. If anything, I would just make kinder windows to avoid things like The Ruby Dragon from happening ever again, or make Fish Eyes a small buff to extend a window for a short time at the cost of GP, adding a new wrinkle in GP management which is the name of the game for big fishing after all!
In my opinion, making a functional change to open up windows isn't going to generate any interest in it because you still can't do anything with the fish you catch. If anything it's just going to make long time fishers finish the content even faster than before which doesn't change anything.

You mean... a trait? As someone who just completed the log, I think it is a totally fair change and I would have liked to have it earlier.

Fish Eyes - Allows the player to find previously hidden fish (allows them to find any fish available at a Fishing spot and bypass weather conditions for levels 1 - 50)
'Enhanced Fish Eyes I' - Extends the level Range to 60
'Enhanced Fish Eyes II' - Extends the level Range to 70
with the traits being awarded at 70 and 80 respectively.

Yup, could work. (On that note, they should do some clean up on the gatherers' traits, especially for fisher. There are over 20 traits, and most of them are redundant.)You mean... a trait?
