I love your ideas. I don’t know, I may be pushing the button a bit to fast but seeing as they totally surprised us and will push blue mage to level 70 in patch 5.4 makes me think we may be in store for it being a normal job sooner than later. Next expansion will be level cap of 90 and I’m sure the new job/jobs will start at level 70. We got Graha’Tia that is the first all rounder trust. Hmmm maybe it’s to soon to speculate but it could mean we could see the first actual all rounder job being blue mage in the new expansion. During the fanfest they always have one major thing to shock us. I hope it’s blue mage being removed from the limited job system and will be the first all rounder advanced job in 6.0. Granted there will need to be allot of balancing but I believe it can be done. I hope it will be done. The devs read these forums. Blue mage topic has been very hot lately so hopefully they see that people actually want this to happen. I don’t want the same ole same masked carnival stuff just at increased levels. We need blue mage as a normal job. It needs to happen.

I also think its all a matter of balancing. Blue mage could ever be included in the regular job system if it was in offline FFs or in the online title Final Fantasy XI - it worked.

Also i think some skills could use some tweeks, for example the "wasp sting attack" which incapacitates the caster, same for self-destruct. Though it is pretty realistic how it is. maybe it would be okay as a penalty to have a long cast time and to inflict a high amount on the BLU himself.

Also giving some of the AoE spells some extra effects, such as Ramuhs shock attack or the earth buster. since they do exactly the same.
I mean shock strike from Ramuh inflicted paralyze as an extra effect in Final Fantasy XI. Earth buster could have immobilize as an extra effect for an example, too.

Just one up to two examples:

The problem with all of this, despite your suggestions being good

All well thought out suggestions, and I salute you for them.

    They have two specific problems.

1: That's not blue mage. That isn't 'fixing' blue mage as some would say, that's 'completely replacing it and giving the new thing the same name.' What you have described is an entirely new job, and not one SE wants, which brings us to point 2.

2: SE doesn't *want* blue mage to be a normal job. They want it to be a limited job, and no matter how wonderful, intricate, well thought out and intelligent the ideas for making it a normal job-which yours are, by the way-the devs don't want it to be a normal job. They want it to be side content, to be something for players to do outside of normal content, something to say 'I'm caught up on MSQ, now what do I do, I can do this while I wait for more content', and that, in essence is what BLU's purpose is in 14, just like relics. Something to keep us busy that is not directly tied to the main story, to give them time to work on it. No matter how brilliant the idea to change it to a normal job may be, doing so would defeat the primary purpose of the job and that is, side content to keep us busy.

i would agree with you were it actually playable. at this point i could care less what they name it, limited, normal, advanced, special, exclusive, whatever. heck, it could be double beef cheese bacon egg lettuce tomato job for all i care. But because of its nature as a "side content", once you're missing out it's not easy to find people to do it with you and you can't do it solo. at least with relics i can do it solo if i really wanted to. I've been in a solo instance eureka just trying to finish my relic. but to completely finish BLU you need 8 people and once people are done with it god forbids you find a party to do it. call me a quitter for all i care cause i've tried, i had to actually beg my already getting morbol BLU friends to accompany me do BLU stuffs.
