Honestly, I can't remember them saying it was 12,000 years ago... when was that said?

I have a secret to tell. From my electrical well. It's a simple message and I'm leaving out the whistles and bells. So the room must listen to me Filibuster vigilantly. My name is blue canary one note* spelled l-i-t-e. My story's infinite Like the Longines Symphonette it doesn't rest- TMBG Birdhouse in your Soul
A huge THANK YOU!!!! For FINALLY selling the Meteor Survivor Polo on the store. AND a huge thanks to my friend who bought it for me while he was at Fan Fest!!! YES I finally have my POLO!!!
OOH It is established that time between source and shard differs. OTOH that doesn't really explain it since its implied that the Source is what remained of the old world
Definitely stated in the lead-up promotion to Shadowbringers, and probably within the story as well.
Also I am of the understanding that the first calamity was the Sundering, or at least the aftermath of it.
Differing time flows definitely confuse how long it's been since the Sundering for other shards, though it's possible that the fluctuations are fairly small-scale and over the millennia it evens out to roughly the same amount of time for each, give or take a few centuries.
Eh maybe I'm mixing it up with the umbral calamities then since that first umbral was the first shard to be rejoined after the sundering and it was wind
If I am mixing everything up I am sorry

Nah, the first six Calamities followed the elemental wheel starting with wind. 's why Eorzean scholars were so certain the Sixth Umbral Calamity (massive flood after the War of the Magi, wiping out Amdapor, Nym, and Mhach) was the absolute last - there were no more elements, so no more Calamities and thus the Sixth Astral Era was supposed to be the "final" Astral Era that never ends.
Obviously we know better these days, but that's what was believed back then.

JP Fanfest, when we found out we were heading to the First, Yoshi P gave a brief history of the Sundering and the Calamites, in which he stated that the Sundering was 12000 years before the start of ARR. Unfortunately, the timeframe is not mentioned in game and we only have this word of god info.
Also, no the Sundering is NOT the first calamity. The first thing that happened post Sundering was the fall of the Thirteenth and it's transformation into the Void, then the Ascians figured out the aetherial connection between Shard and Source that they used in each subsequent rejoining.
There is a period of time between Sundering and First Calamity that we know nothing about on the Source. "The Age of Gods", originally used to refer to anything prior the First Calamity, should now apply to this era of no known records, where the recently sundered had to get used to their new forms and vague memories.

The "Age of Gods" seems to be intended to be the ancient world before the Sundering. There is a period of time between Sundering and First Calamity that we know nothing about on the Source. "The Age of Gods", originally used to refer to anything prior the First Calamity, should now apply to this era of no known records, where the recently sundered had to get used to their new forms and vague memories.
As far as Cylva and Unulkulhai go... they could have been held in stasis in a rift, much like that little boy who was friends with the Elezen WoD that you save in the Caster Role quests. He hasn't age one day since being drawn into a rift.
So that makes tracking a timeline for the 13th or people from other shards really difficult without express statements in game or by devs. Cause anybody could be held in a rift in stasis for an indeterminable period of time.
