    A thousand thousand is a million (1000x1000=1000000), so he's probably using that as a jumping off point since it's really the only time frame we have. Even tne book states the first calamity wasn't fully identified until like the 6th Umbral era. The main history we know is only about 1572 years or so. And we know that some of the eras that proceed the 6th Astral Era are thousands of years prior to that.
