To other Healer Mains: What keeps you around?

I like the SCH aesthetic and job fantasy, and feeling needed and feeling useful activates my dopamines.

I hope we get more engaging gameplay though. Been a healer main since launch and the Broil spam is seriously getting me burned out.

This is me. It's to the point where if 6.0 dumbs healers down any more, I will most likely quit. I don't have much interest in dps or tank roles, I've been a healer in games for years now. So chances are I'll find another game that has more challenging or fun healing (FF14 is neither for me atm).

I play AST since Stormblood but i think if 6.0 drags the AST further down i will just switch to MCH or SMN and tell our rezz-mage
he can now play "glare-a-lot" (WHM) or "broiler" (SCH) >.<

I play RDM mostly now ... I suppose that has been keeping me around. I still heal occasionally, but I really don't like what they did with the healer jobs in ShB.

Think what it's like to be healer main from 2.X-3.X buying shadowbringers and coming back to this.
I never even leveled other classes, not much at least nor wanted to play tanks if you were not allowed to mess up once while leveling it.

Well, at least ShB story is supposedly good.

Im not daft, but im also not ignoring the fact healing is the only fun to have in dungeons. They can nerf its identity until they all have just 1 designated heal button and itll still be the most involved thanks to healers God complex.

Just because i can have fun with them will never blind me to the blatant errors they have in many regards as its harmful for growth. imagine if Yoship just listened to those people we'd never evolve.

Sadly, I agree. I choose to play healer because I like healing and be of assistance, not because 'it's what the party needs' and to be considered an asset more than a player feels kind of disheartening. It's like saying my enjoyment of the game doesn't matter - as a healer, I exist solely to make sure the DPS and tanks are having fun.

I've only joined since ShB so I can't say with how streamlined the healers are, but everyone who's stuck around for long and have found themselves enjoying it less have my sympathies. I've always been a supporter first and foremost in MMO content, I'm patient so I don't go through the "healer rage" stereotype (except if I have a co-healer not doing their job I steam quietly for example), and on a sillier note, I love insta-queues.

I haven't gotten to the "I'm bored with healing" stage yet. Believe me, I feel it, but not to the point where I'm ready to ditch AST for DNC/RDM.
