Not to mention the high (if Schrodinger's catlike) possibility that other fragments of you-know-who would likely look very different
The bigger issue is that every character who has been shown to potentially be one of "us" (An azem soul/shard of our sundered soul) besides the player character has been MALE. Why are we the only female one?
We've only seen one confirmed shard of Azem besides us and that's Ardbert, so I'm not quite sure why this is an issue at present? Unless you mean Unukalhai? Though we aren't sure who he's a shard of at present. Even the original Azem changes pronouns depending upon what gender your WoL happens to be.

They could have just had 2, one male one female. Would still have been more work, and he is his own person, so I don't think it really matters.
Souls have no gender.
I'm confused by the topic title. Did you mean Azem, instead of Ardbert?
There's no reason that we should look like Ardbert. Do you think that when something breaks into 14 pieces, all the pieces should look exactly the same?
I'll just go full scifi on this one and chalk it up to multiverse theory. He's the WoL in his universe. I'm the WoL in a different branch universe =D
Name Meaning:
Nekaru = Neko + Hikaru
Infitima = Infinity + Ultima
There are creative ways around that, Like keeping him/her concealed until the right moment, You don't name them until you would find out his/her name. Like in other FFs, there character says oh my name is... then you name them.
