I've seen arguments that the devs/Yoshi-P has stated that Viera in this case will not get any of the old hairstyles, but brand new ones for Viera only.
As far as I can remember, they stated that they can implement some of the current and older hairstyles, but not all, and that this will be implemented in the future.

Q: I used fantasia to change to Viera and I'm enjoying it. As they're a special race and it may not be possible, but feel like the number of hairstyles available for Viera and Hrothgar is quite limited. Do you have plans to add more in the future?

A: We certainly plan on adding more, so please wait for future patches. However, it will still be race-specific, so there won’t be as many selections when compared to other races.

Sorry if the formatting is wrong for the quote, that was my first attempt at quoting another thread and I'm garbage at it lol. But I assume this is what is being referred to when they mention race-specific, that particular comment has been one I've held onto hope with, even though it's slowly dwindled away over the past year

I suppose this same quote could also be interpreted as 'they'll implement some old hairstyles but not all' too, but personally I read it as the former, that they intend on adding unique race-specific hairstyles. I'd prefer some of the hairstyles I already own, like the Gyr Abanian Plait, but at this point, I'm just desperate for more hairstyles in general and I'd just take anything they give me :/

I checked for this many months back and many days recently; I also fail to find the same thing.

Plus, it's more than just hair. It's hats, it's hair animations, and it's Hempen gear.

We have Midlander Hyur Hempen gear like the Hrothgar has Male Roe's Hempen gear for their 2nd racial specific gear... like, the Viera drought is deepening.

I'm just desperate for more hairstyles in general and I'd just take anything they give me :/

I almost feel the same way but I know better... I want good things for this race as I've wanted them since I ever touched this game.

Ah, sorry, I want to clarify, the quote I gave in my original reply is the Live Letter I was referring to, it's a line from that specific LL from August last year. I'm sorry for any confusion >.< Per that LL, they did actually say they'll be adding more, but they'd be 'race-specific'.

My interpretation of that quote was that they were planning on adding hairstyles, but they'd be exclusive hair styles and not old ones (given it says 'However, it will still be race-specific'.) Tbh, I can't think of any direct reference to them saying they'd be able to implement any old hairstyles, but I could be wrong (and I hope I am lol.) I can also see the quote I gave being vaguely interpreted that they'd add old styles tho, albeit only certain ones.

Regardless tho, that quote does say without a doubt that they were planning on adding some, and it bothers me that it's been a YEAR with no new styles, or even any idea of when they plan to add them. It frustrates me because I love my bunny, but I like to change up my hair sometimes, and I don't like any of their current hairstyles. Two have kinda grown on me, but they're styles that I see pretty much on every third Viera. Sometimes I debate on going back to Au Ra in the meantime, but then I chicken out every time XD

Personally, I'm ok with no hats, as I rarely use them anyway, but I understand that many don't feel the same way I do, and they should at least be able to use some newer hats. I know multiple people that changed races because of the hats. And the hempen set just makes me laugh-cry. They didn't even try lol.

Im sorry to use this topic to ask something that is not directly to lack of options for Viera's hairstyle, but as I read throughout this thread I saw some people lamenting that hairs that they purchase turn out to be unavailable to use for their Viera character and uh, I'm wondering, in the in-game MB people are selling hairs like Gyr Abania (sorry if I misspelled it) and others and they can be really expensive... are you guys saying that say I purchase that hair (the last time I saw it it's in the million gil range) it doesn't guarantee that I can use it with my character (which is Au Ra)? The game gave no warning about it.................?

Where can I find info about this hairstyle or that hairstyle is compatible with my character or not? It's gonna suck so bad if I use lots of my money to buy a hairstyle only to find out my character cannot use it--to say I will feel devastated is an understatement.

Ok yeah, this I remember watching now that you mention it, but they didn't specifically said no old hairstyles wouldn't be added. They would add previous ones ("but not all" which is just weird, can't understand what they mean if they just mean the side shaved hairstyle that some races except Au Ra get? and probably the dreads... so I'm guessing we won't get one or two from what they said) So they will be adding old and new hairstyles because as it stands I think even racially Viera has less hairstyles (discounting version with bangs as a separate hairstyle) than other races.

Yes, it's important to stay on track with our frustrations, I think we're all on the same level of frustration at this point specially the few of us who have been waiting for this race since ARR.

I really appreciate this comment here, it's really important that we get this started and going for us to complete Viera even if it's female only and can be argued to be 'unfinished'. How much its missing is DEFINITELY way more unfinished.

Yoshi P already answered back on this. He stated that viera will get some of the other hairstyles, but not all and Hrothgar will get new Hrothgar specific hairstyles and possibly more faces.

Yeah, Yoshi-P is always stating something... He stated whenever ARR very first happened that every new implementation into the game going forward would be based on what players wanted because they were the ones that kept the game going when it flopped and we see how long that lasted, maybe a year then it was back to everything being what they wanted and what they could and couldn't do or else it wouldn't have took taken us years later to even get Viera in the first place! Another example, Summoner has been out since ARR started and Yoshi-P "stated" that we would be getting a new eggies with new abilities, then it changed to no, we would have the same Eggies but just different glamours, and now here it is 7 years later and we still don't have anything but the same three Eggies that we started the game with and one of which they have made absolutely useless! Summoner is a disgrace in this game to the history of the Final Fantasy franchise! It's sad when Final Fantasy 11 that is 20 years old now has a far superior summoning system then this game could ever possibly have! It would not surprise me in the least if we never get anything new for Viera... When they released Viera with shadowbringers, I'm not saying every one of the items in the game should have fit their head or feet because I know that would be a lot to go back and do, but every single head item and every single foot item from Shadowbringers forward should have been made to fit their heads and feet with the high heels that they need. Even the concept art for Dancer showed of the Viera with high heel shoes on but yet we get in the game and their feet are just as flat as everybody else... It's disgusting the way they have ruined this race! Hell, we don't even get a freakin tail? It's really sad when Tera, a free-to-play game that has cartoon graphics, can do things with their characters that Square-Enix raking in millions each month on subscriptions alone can't seem to figure out...
