Some people truly cannot empathize at all. Which is ironic in that it's one of the hardest positions to empathize with. They see the world in the terms of their experience and cannot imagine that someone elses circumstances or values would be different. Any claim to the contrary is nonsense and will be ignored.

It is a wonderful and weirdly varied world we get to experience in a video game forum.

I like ATEs, I just hate the idea of everyone failing a duty because one person fails. I also dislike the ATE in the current new trial, because it goes for something like 13 seconds.

Just keep the ATEs manageable. That's all I ask.

And we ask the SE to rework this mechanic: either let one die if 6 people completed it, or as it was in the early versions of the mechanic. Someone complained that it is not clear who is to blame, and yes, this is bad, but if you add the appearance of this, then there will be soil for bulling, and the person will be kicked for trying, and the circumstances are not important.

If you can spend some cash on video games, you should (or at least I think) reasonably be ok with forking over a few extra dollars to make the experience better for yourself. I own the game on PC, but I like playing controller. Ergo, I purchased a real Microsoft controller for its weight and how it feels in my hands versus a cheaper, general controller. You buy salt and sugar for food to give it the flavor you want regardless of what pre-made meal you purchase from the store. You buy in soles to make shoes fit more comfortably despite spending money on the shoe. The list goes on but the point is the same. You are standing in the rain here, letting yourself get wet when buying an umbrella is not the end of the world. And many places offer return services. Did you consider finding a store that allows full refund returns? I know I have ordered packages that come with return stickers.

And if money is that much of a concern, then do you honestly think subscribing to an mmo is the right choice?

Imagine thinking the solution is having to buy a separate piece of equipment for ONE fight when I already have stated multiple times that that's all it would be used for. Why is that? Again, because I actively know my disability and avoid games that would otherwise make use of that kind of equipment because it's extremely important to me NOT to give money to games that are designed around being inaccessible to those with disabilities. If FF14 made it a point to add more of these QTEs then yes, I would be rethinking my subscription. At this point however I can voice my concerns here and hope that this mechanic will be changed and that in the future they'll think of better ways to include tension in these story fights.

And my finances are fine, thank you. Specifically because I don't waste money on tech that I won't use simply to appease forum posters I'll never care to meet. <3

Particularly when before my tried and true method for avoiding pain was legitimately until a good time after any game's release to find out how accessible it really is and subsequently avoid any that didn't meet fairly benign standards.

This is so reasonable (no)! At first people with disabilities were told here "Try harder!", and now they are counting other people's finances. For what? In my opinion, this is the same answer "Do something with your problems and don't bother us have a fun!", but in other words.

Do you seriously compare basic things for life to a controller for a game? It can be versatile for you, but useless in everything but QTE in FFXIV for others. You may don`t care about the risk of getting a ban, but not others. To measure another man's foot by one's own is stupid. And yes, you have no right to count other people's finances. These are elementary norms of behavior in society.

You may don`t care about the risk of getting a ban, but not others. To measure another man's foot by one's own is stupid. And yes, you have no right to count other people's finances. Honestly.... after doing this fight again randomly tonight. I'mma make the case it's not the QTE that's the real wiper. nope... there's something NOONE is talking about. The tank LB3. At this stage there's still people who don't know about it. We wiped 3 times cause the timing for that is so tight. Noone failed the QTE in this btw... and there were newbies to the fight too.

And the REAL reason I did it just now... people had a ball at my name. Memes were made, jokes were had, hugs were thrown. All in all a good time. I say that to say this. This topic got heated but lets remember this is just a video game and while I may disagree with changing the fight itself I'm not saying people don't have the right to ask for it for whatever reason. doesn't mean I have to agree... but if SE changes it it's whateve. Lets just try to keep the fun alive you know?

It's funny that for 99% of the MSQ, tanks were never allowed to touch LB. From the first dungeon all the way up to and including Heroes Gauntlet, LB was for DPS only (with occasional Healer LB3 if need be).

I don't have LB on any of my bars on any of my tanks, since I am never allowed to use it as per our great FFXIV Community. Now tanks have to be able to use LB and time it to something for one trial for the first time ever (assuming they have never used it in other events, like me).

Honestly, the wipes are justified. Maybe if everyone didn't leave the LB bar solely to DPS so they can anime the boss at the last 5%, tanks would know how to utilized it for something like this.

As for the topic, as someone with a motor skill deficiency, I used a controller and passed on the first time with no pain and no exhaustion. I am sure I could have done it like the other QTEs of rolling another body part across the keyboard. I mainly play with a controller since my motor skills for thumb usage isn't as deficient as normal keyboard use. Just typing normally on a keyboard bothers me more than that QTE ever did.

Playing video games is very much a basic thing for life if you do it all the time. And I'm offering suggestions here. It's a single solution for the myriad of problems people are displaying as the end of their entire world.

This entire thread has been dedicated to a single trial. One instance of mash or fail. Tell me how suggesting buying a controller over all the misery that this trial has brought up is disrespectful, will get you banned when *checks notes* the tactical controller exists and not worth some investment because of all the investment put in this thread.
